HiI have several RoboHelp projects under SVN Subversion Source Control. I would also like to share common topics across these RoboHelp projects using the Resource Manager using a shared folder location. I would like to put these shared topics under version control as well. However, I assume that Source Control and Resource Manager work independently and that when we check in or check out a project under Source Control, the shared topics are not checked into Source Control. In order to have the shared topics under Source Control, I want to put the shared topics in a folder that is part of of RoboHelp project, sort of a master RoboHelp project, and put that project under Source Control, as per the following diagram:Just wondering if anyone has a better solution than this, or can see any issues with doing it this way?
Breadcrumbs disappears when a text is longer than about 80 bytes. Javascript codes are also missing.<GOOD><BAD>Please help me to solve this probrem.
Hello,I'm using RoboHelp version 9.02 on my Windows 7 64-bit computer to generate a WebHelp project. Years ago, I was told to always ask developers to completely clear out the existing files in the WebHelp folder (on their end) before replacing them with updated files. In other words, when I compile the WebHelp project, I typically copy the output from the generated WebHelp folder on my hard drive, store it somewhere where a developer copies it, and then they do their magic with it on their end. I've always told them to delete the contents of the existing (older version) WebHelp folder on their end before copying in my new files. Does anyone know if this is still necessary?I'm working with a different developer now and he just copies and pastes my newly generated files into his existing folder (without removing prior contents). Can this cause issues? Thanks for your help.
I am using RH11, Merged Help, WebHelp. Search in WebHelp works very slowly compared to modern engines. How to optimize or speed up search? Thank you in advance.
I have a large documentation set and I want to use a merged project in order to seemlessly allow cross-book searching. I would like the book title to appear with topic title, or directly below it when the search results are displayed; so people know which book the results are from. My output format is WebHelp. My input is HTMLHelp. My RoboHelp version is 10.Any suggestions?
Generating WebHelp, HTML Help, and Responsive Help works fine if I do NOT select Conditional Build Expressions, but as soon as I select any condition, in any existing or new test SSL, for even one topic, the output generation goes along nicely, but hangs at the point of "Updating Files." It fails to proceed and I have to close RH. This happens for all outputs. This began to happen two weeks ago, for no reason that I can discern. The rhbuildtag.apj file seems to be fine.I have 23 conditional build tags, but that shouldn't be the problem, because it always worked before. This problem does NOT occur in my other RH projectsI believe a file is corrupted, but don't know where to begin to look. It's a big project. Are there any tools for tracing hiccups in builds? (Re-constructing this project piece by piece is something I really don't want to do!!)Thank you!
Hi Experts...My company has standard documentation that all customers can view. We also have documentation for premium products. We would like to have customers only access the documentation for the premium products (one or more) they’ve purchased. Can RH Server enforce these access rights, and can access rights be granted via API to an external authorization system? The PDF on the server is a bit unclear on access rights. I’m not sure whether it’s referring to access rights for RoboHelp authors, or for access rights for end users (those viewing the published material). I’d be primarily interested in the latter.Thanks!-Kurt Euler
Hello-A colleague and I have just started creating product documentation for our company via RoboHelp 11. We have created a set of topics on a network location and have connected to that location via our Resource Manager. We are making edits to topics located on our own C: drives via the Project Manager and attempting to keep our topics up to date via the syncing function by sending our topic edits to the Resource Manager topics and downloading newly edited topics from the Resource Manager to our local drives. However, we do have a couple of questions. For example, in the diagram, if my colleague edits a few topics locally and then syncs with the Resource Manager, I see those topics with the red "x" icon (1) indicating my topics in my Project Manager (4) are out of sync. I can see the changes my colleague has made to the topic she synced with the Resource Manager (2) and I can open my own copy of the topic on my C: drive with the now out of sync text (3) but the only way we can se
My master page places a breadcrumb on every page in my project. When I add a topic to the TOC in two or more places, and I compile the project and click the second or the nth instance of said topic in the TOC, the TOC always "jumps" to the first instance. I cannot look at the second or the nth instance of that topic in the TOC. (Of course, the text is identical in all n places, but I want to TOC to stay in the branch that the user expects to be.) BUT IF I TAKE THE BREADCRUMB OUT of the master page, the multiple instances of a topic behave perfectly. If I cannot use breadcrumbs, I'll have a huge problem. Can this be fixed?
I am on Windows 8, 64-bit, RoboHelp 11 (standalone). I've created a project and created some glossary terms. I've selected the glossary in the Single Source Layout and generated the project. When I view the project, I can view the glossary in Mobile and Tablet form, but the desktop view displays nothing when the Glossary link is selected. I am using the Theme2_Government responsive layout template. Any ideas I can use to troubleshoot this issue?8/8/2014 - I'd like to add that the Index has the same issue. I've checked for updates; ensured that I am assigning the correct item etc. Thanks in advance. Susan
I am on a desktop, Windows 8, RH11.I currently am not using TFS or SharePoint for source control, but need to put my publish files on TFS for the development team to pull into automated builds. Is there a special way to do this? any settings that I need to be aware of?As a side note, I am considering whether to use TFS or SharePoint as my source control and leaning toward SharePoint because we would like to publish other files such as a knowledgebase onto SharePoint and I want to use the Resource Manager as well. Thank you,Susan
Hi there,Whilst trying to edit an image through Robohelp - Roboscreencapture an error occurs 'error 13' and it will not let me save the edited image. It also deletes the original image from robohelp.Help please!
Hi,How can I change the height of the function bar in the desktop view of a responsive layout? The function bar height and the size of the TOC, Print and Search controls are too big compared with the logo bar. Thanks in advance for your feedback!Regards,Pim
I am working in RoboHelp 10, my .html files are generating using the WebHelp target. My source files are in FrameMaker, which are linked to RoboHelp. I set up context IDs in RoboHelp.Suddenly, the context IDs aren't working in outputs at all. I've rebuilt the RoboHelp linking and re-setup the context IDs.Any ideas on what happened? Thanks.
Our developer is reporting that RoboHelp 11 is converting the parameter rhmapno to uppercase RHMAPNO in the loadcsh.js Multiscreen HTML5 output file, and the CSH is not working (see below from the file). Is anyone else having this problem and can suggest a solution?function loadTopic(defaultTopicURL){ gDefTopicURL = defaultTopicURL; var mapnum = getUrlParameter(RHMAPNO); if(mapnum!="") { showCSHTopic(ITEMTYPEMAPNO, mapnum); return true; }Thanks.Gina
I want to upgrade my RoboHelp 9 to RoboHelp 11. I'm an Australian, in Australia (although working for an American company). The Adobe site therefore shows me an adobe/au page with upgrade eligibility details, which says its possible for $599:http://www.adobe.com/au/products/robohelp/upgrade.displayTab2.htmBut if I go to the page to actually purchase the upgrade, the "I own" drop-down list gives only RH 10 as an option, not RH 9.A telephone conversation with an Adobe person confirmed that RH10 to RH11's the only upgrade route available for Australian customers! If I was in the U.S, I could upgrade form RH 9.Has anyone found a way around this? I seem to have three options:Buying RoboHelp 11 at full price as if I were a new customer and hadn't been using it for a few years, or moving to the U.S., or buying a competitor's product?(I'm ignoring the option of pretending to be in the U.S., because that wouldn't be honest)ThanksNick
The RH Server instructions appear to specify only WebHelp Pro as the type of projects that can be published to RH Server. Is this true? If so, this would be unfortunate. I'd really hoped to be able to use the content categories feature of the regular WebHelp layout.Thanks.-Kurt
Experts-Can anyone confirm that RH Server does NOT require, or make use of, Active Directory. (The spec sheet doesn't indicate one way or another.)Does anyone know if is possible to use MySQL for the RH database. (The spec sheet list it, but perhaps it works anyway.)Thanks!
Hi all. Can anyone comment as to whether or not a Windows 7 system would be robust enough to host customer-facing documentation (with var. access rules incorporated)? Or, is a Windows server worth the extra $.We have about 220 customers who'll be making occasional access to the docs. (Hard to know how many would be concurrent at heaviest use.)Thanks.-Kurt
Hi there,When opening my Web Help files in Internet Explorer, I always have to click a link located in the upper left portion of the window called Show in order to show my left frame content (ToC, Index, Search). Is there something I need to do in RoboHelp to make this happen automatically? Or is it a browser issue? I'm using RoboHelp 9.0.2.271 and generating Web Help. Thanks in advance for any help with this!
I've imported my FM8 book into RH10, and the map IDs are created beautifully (thanks Jeff!). So now I want to give the files to the developer to test the new calls. The .h and .ali files are in the project folder, I don't see them in the SSL/Webhelp folders. Do I include them separately, or are they converted to some other file name/type in the output folders? Thanks,Laurie
I can highlight a bulleted list and use the ruler (toolbar) at the top to indent the list. It looks fine in the topic designer, but when I click View or generate, the bullets remain justified to the left and the copy is indented.
Has anyone used the Maven repository to store multi-file projects? My developers want a PDF now instead of a Responsive HTML help system because apparently Maven verifies that files are there and formats .htm files. They developers just want to throw in a PDF and not have to worry about all of that.
Hi there,I'm generating one set of help files for three different users. I understand how to limit what each individual user types see. However, my problem arises when there are a few topics, or a few sections within a topic, that I'm supposed to reveal to two users, but not the third. Do I need to generate additional versions of the help for the "pairs" of users? Or is there a way to use parentheses, or something, to isolate. For example: User1 OR (User1 AND User 2).Feedback is greatly appreciated.Tom
When I generate WebHelp from RH11, the See Also (button/link) displays with a double gray background for all outputs (IE, FF and Chrome). See below. Does anyone know how or where I would "design" this look (color, point size, etc.) (in RH or in the web output?)
