I'm having trouble figuring out how to pass an arbitrary string to a basic flash movie (*.swf) as a parameter. In this case I plan to instantiate a number of the same flash movie objects on the html page and they will determine their behavior by inspecting the argument passed from the html instantiation and act accordingly. What is the best way to accomplish this? Thanks, Richard Bagdazian

Is there a way to delete the entire index in the online help project? Or can you only delete one index entry at a time? I suspect the index is too large and may be responsible for an error message ("There is not enough memory for this task. Quit one or more programs to increase availabel memory and then try again") and a subsequent abnormal program termination.

I need help. I am trying to make my menu as a seperate movie clip for simplicity and less key frames. I can not figure out, though, how to get my menu buttons to go to the frame label in scene 1. If I could get some advice on how to fix this, I would greatly appreciate it.

it´s pretty simple, i have a preloader witch hits a certain function when it gets to the percentage but the problems is that i have to make it just ONE hit per function, and it keeps hitting without stoping here´s the preloader: preloader_mc.onEnterFrame = function () { total = _root.getBytesTotal(); loaded = _root.getBytesLoaded(); pct = (loaded/total) * 100; pct = Math.floor(pct); //HERE´s the whole problem: if (pct >= 10 and pct < 30) { loadlogo01 (); } if (pct >= 30 and pct < 50) { loadlogo02 (); } if (pct >= 50 and pct < 70) { loadlogo03 (); } if (pct >= 70 and pct < 90) { loadlogo04 (); } if (pct >= 90) { loadlogo05 (); } if (pct == 100) { _root.gotoAndStop(2); preloader_mc.unloadMovie(); } } so, it´s basically this: for ex: if (pct >= 70 and pct < 90) { loadlogo04 (); } in this part of the code, the "loadlogo04 ();" function is supposed to just be called ONE time, but it´s calling several time whenever "p

Hello all, I'm using RoboHelp HTML on RoboHelp X5.0.2 and generating .chm output. I currently have a merged master project with several slave projects and am trying to add context sensitive help. So after I add the map IDs into the slave projects and recompile everything, are those map IDs merged into the master project? In other words, when I call the master help file from the application, will the master help file still recognize the slave map IDs? If not, does anyone know a way to make merged context sensitive help work? Thanks, Chad

Can someone have a look at this please? Basically two versions of a details page based on a recordset using two tables and an interlinking lookup table. The idea is to display a person's details at the top of the page on the left (from the 'Candidates' table), and on the right any job 'profiles' for that person (from a 'Profiles' table). The page is obviously just showing the details for the selected Candidate, but needs to show *all* the associated profiles. So in the first page, the details are correct, but because it shows the first record from the query. So I thought it would be a simple case of adding a repeat region to the 'Profiles' row on the right hand side. But when I do that, most of the contact details don't display - only the ID and firstname fields. http://www.searchtechuk.com/database/candidates2.php http://www.searchtechuk.com/database/candidates3.php Any clues? I am trying to connect to my mysql database. all the login information is correct but I get the following error. image

This is maddening, but I must be missing something simple. First, I have a frame that loads a variable from an ASP page which writes either "&checklist=1" if an email is entered or "&checklist=0" if the email is left blank: quote: sendVar = new LoadVars(); getVar = new LoadVars(); sendVar.email = email.text; sendVar.sendAndLoad("send.asp", getVar, "POST"); getVar.onLoad = function(success) { if (success) { _root.checklist = this.checklist; _root.gotoAndPlay("Go"); } else { _root.response.text = "Error."; } Now on the next frame, I put up dynamic text with the "var" name as "_root.checklist". When the page pulls a "1", the text displays as "1".... when it pulls a "0", it displays a "0". So far, so good. The problem is, I have a MC on the stage that I only want to be visible if "_root.checklist" is equal to "1". Here's what I came up with: quote: _root.myMC.onLoad = function(){ if (_root.checklist == 1){ _root.myMC._visible = true; } else { _root.myMC._visible =

Hello, Overview: I am having a confusing time figuring out what's going on with the scope in a project I'm working on. I mocked up a version of what I'm attempting, and have attached all the code (as follows). I want to access/modify a var that resides on a movieclip's timeline. Problem: A movieclip (called test) resides in the first frame of the main timeline. Inside test on it's first frame it declares a var called testing. From the main timeline I ask what the value of testing is, and it returns undefined. Attempted Resolution: I have programmed in Java, and it has what they call accessor and mutator methods. I tried creating accessor/mutator functions in the movieclip, but this didn't change the error message. I also thought that it might be an issue with the ver of AS that I am using. I have MX 2004 (v7.0) and I checked the livedocs to look into seeing if I was on track. As far as I can tell I am. Thank you for the help, Here's the code:

I have a text box with a ton of text in it (multiple paragraphs). Functionally, what I'd like to do is have it so that I can have people click on (or roll over) certain words, and then a definition pops up in a blue box (kinda like a tooltip)... I could make one "box" movieclip with a dynamic text field in it, and then just use it as a transparent button over each word that needs to be defined within the paragraph (loading the definition text inside the "box" dynamically), but I wouldn't know how to adjust the size of the box so that it fits each definition's text. (like, some definitions may be a couple words, and some may be a sentence or two, so if the box is always just one size, that won't work)... That being said, the only thing I can think of is having a separate "box" movieclip (each sized to its separate dimentions) in the library. But with all of those definitions, that will increase the file size huge... There's gotta be a simple solution to this that I'm missing - any id

Hello, What is the easiest way to resize images? I searched the forum and search engines, only things i found was components or custome tags. I haven't got to the part in learning where i can use custome tags. Can someone help me out with this? Thanks in advance!!

Hi, I'm going to distribute Adobe Flash Player 9 via SMS. I’m using Adobe’s own msi package: “install_flash_player_active_x.msi”. All browsers are IE6 (Internet Explorer v6). All systems are running Windows XP SP2 + all updates. I’m well aware of ISScript 10.50’s issue with the DCom RUNAS keys. The MSI-package works fine as long as it is executed by a User with Admin rights (running in user environment). But as it is installed by SMS (running as “Local System”), it fails. I have tried to execute it as “Local System” with User Interface. I get the following error message: The wizard was interrupted before Adobe Flash Player 9 Active X could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again. Click Finish to exit the wizard.

here is the code i get from the custom easing tool: customEasing = {}; customEasing.pts = [0,0.0257,0.0609,0.1057,0.1603,0.2247,0.2991,0.3837, ect.. ect... customEasing.ease = function(t,b,c,d,pl){ return b+c*pl[Math.round(t/d * pl.length)]; } however i need this code to go into a class defenition which extends movie clip. but there seems to be no easy way to do this as the way the above code is set out is not allowd in a class defenition. so my question is how can i rearange this code to work in a class defenition so that other methods of that class can use it in tweens?

Hello. I have this code: colors = [0xFFCC00, 0xFFFF00]; alphas = [100, 100]; ratios = [0, 0xFF]; matrix = {a:100, b:20, c:5, d:100, e:0, f:10, g:100, h:10, i:5}; beginGradientFill("linear", colors, alphas, ratios, matrix); I use it to fill a clip with a gradient color. I want the second color (in first line) to be taken from a variable. I tried: my_color = "0x"+"FFFFCC"; colors = [0xFFCC00, my_color]; alphas = [100, 100]; ratios = [0, 0xFF]; matrix = {a:100, b:20, c:5, d:100, e:0, f:10, g:100, h:10, i:5}; beginGradientFill("linear", colors, alphas, ratios, matrix); It doesnt work, it doesn't read the variable as a color and the color it sets is black. Anyone knows how the color code should be composed so that I can have that color code taken from a variable? Thank you. - Adrian.

The state of main has preceeding 0's on their Social Security numbers, i.e. 005-44-8473 When I assign the 1st part of the SSN to a session variable, it drops the 00 and I only get 5. This is blowing up my database and additional apps that rely upon the SSN. How can I format that session variable to retain all three characters when the first one or two are 0's? Any help is appreciated.

Hello, I installed the Cold Fusion MX 7 Trial Edition, then I bought the software and upgraded it in the administrator by entering the serial number. It went well and the Standard Edition is now working. But CFCharts still display the "Developer Edition"-Logo. Why? I don't want to start installing Coldfusion all over again. Any clues? Greetings Rebecca

Hello everyone, I am hoping someone can help me with this issue. I am rather new to Robohelp and I am having a problem with indexing. I am creating a help file for our sevice associates to use. When I index, I read the manual that came with the software, make it a point to index only thing words I want searchable, and compile. However, when i do a search for a particular word (say the word "divorce" for example), the search results return several documents that I never indexed the word into. I checked these documents and saw that the word "divorce" happened to be on the page of the document that I did not index. I tried adding the word "divorce" to the "always ignore" words but the document still came up. Is there anything I can do to correct this problem and only have the documents that I specifically index the word "divorce" in to come up when I type the word "divorce in the robohelp search bar? Assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I want to make a sequence animation for a mc in pure actionscript (not with frames) I want to animate this mc in 3 different stages of the total animation like this sequence: 1. first mc moveTo (x,y) 2. after mc has movedTo(x,y) move mc To(another x, another y) 3.after I´ve moved mc To(anotherx, anothery) Scale mc I´ve tried alex Uhlmann animation package and http://laco.wz.cz/tween/ but I didn´t figure it out how I should solve the scaling part. The only sequence I managed to was was this with 2 different parts (movements) and not with 3 (the Scaling part): import de.alex_uhlmann.animationpackage.*; import de.alex_uhlmann.animationpackage.animation.*; import de.alex_uhlmann.animationpackage.drawing.*; import de.alex_uhlmann.animationpackage.utility.*; import com.robertpenner.easing.*; APCore.initialize(); var myListener:Object = new Object(); APCore.addListener(myListener); var myMove:Move = new Move(mc); myMove.animationStyle(2000,Expo.easeInOut,"onCallback"); myLi

Sorry if this may have been partially answered in another post, but I can seem to find the answer. I have a form that contains radio buttons, along with other form fields. If the user hits the submit button, it takes them to a processing page which has alot of validation checks, spits an error message out to the user, and displays a 'go back' button to return to the previous page for corrections. All of my text input boxes have session variables assigned to the 'value' field and they all work great. After the user hits the go back button, the data is re-populated back in the fields. However, I cannot figure out how to assign a session variable to my radio buttons. Here is my code: <cfinput required="yes" message="You must Indicate Y or N for timeframe - work during C-Check" type="radio" value="YES" name="ccheck">YES <cfinput required="yes" message="You must Indicate Y or N for timeframe - work during C-Check" type="radio" value="NO" name="ccheck">NO You can see that unl

Hi, I want to output my Help to the WebHelp_Pro format so that the Help displays in a single pane in a browser, and so that there are no Contents, Index, Glossary, or Search buttons on the toolbar. I created a window for which I deselected these toolbar options, and selected "single pane", but when I display the Help in a window it displays in two panes and all the toolbar buttons display. I can create WebHelp that displays as I want but I've not had success with the WebHelp_Pro format. Does anyone have any suggestions for what I need to do? Thanks, Alan

Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. here is the adress for the Dev site: the test site only the 2 first buttons of the botom works. just try to refresh the page and see that the navigation status don't fuction. If you are luky you'll see it work on loading url. here is the url for the navigation check the last tree buttons (without link yet) the url of swf After running some test i realice that when i empty cache it works but thats it.
