Hi, when users press the TAB button to fill in the next box in my contacts page, the selection goes all over the screen to different buttons. The contact page is a seperate MC that is loaded in the main. Is there a way to control the TAB button so the selection goes in order only in that precise MC...? Thank you very much.

Hi there.. I have a class in which there are properties (IE - _myColor). Now suppose withing my class I have an onPress function defined... IE targetMc.myBtn.onPress = function():Void { trace("The current value is: " + _myColor); } Now obviously this will not work because it is out of scope. What is the proper way to access said property from the onPress that resides IN the class file as well? Thanks!

When I apply an XSL Transformation to a PHP page, the page displays with an MM_XSLTransform error saying the XML file is not a valid XML document -- even though it absolutely is valid XML. This is totally reproducable. Here's a simple example: library.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?> <library> <owner>Mister Reader</owner> <book> <isbn>1-2345-6789-0</isbn> <title>All About XML</title> <author>John Doe</author> <language>English</language> <price currency="usd">24.95</price> </book> <book> <isbn>9-8765-4321-0</isbn> <title>CSS Made Simple</title> <author>Jane Smith</author> <language>English</language> <price currency="usd">19.95</price> </book> </library> library.xsl: <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl=" http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:output met

Originally a CBT was created consisting of 19 modules that were linked using Menubuilder. Because the client now wants to password protect the CBT, I have consolidated all modules into one very large file and have bult a menu with submenus using buttons. However, it appears that when moving from one menu option to another, resources are not being released to the oint that the script starts running very slow. I've investigated Captivate Player but it appears it is useful for linking multiple files not navigating within the same file. Can you tell me what my options are in navigating within this CBT?

i have a situation on a website where the contact page uses php scripting allowing the user to send the email form..the problem is diosplaying an alert message when the email has been sent... i think it is to do with the different levels i am using on my website. i have a background level, then a navigation level and i load the pages into a separate movie clip on the navigation level. the code on the contact page is "On ClipEvent(data) { _root.nextframe(): } if my contact page is loaded into the container movie clip on the navi level then how do i get the contactswf. to go to the next frame after the data has been sent? id really like some help on how to solve this.. cheers

I would like to duplicate sourceClip_mc not as a sibling of sourceClip_mc , but as a child so that I can use for example sourceClip_mc._alpha = 50 to change the transparency of the source MC and all its duplicates. It appears that there's no simple way to do this but I'm probably wrong! Can anyone enlighten me? Bob

Hello Everyone, I'm in desperate need of help! I'm a new user to Captivate and have run into an issue with one of seven learning modules created for a course. Module 2 is not tracking as Completed in the LMS. I have double-checked several times to make sure all the settings & configurations for all seven modules are the same. They are! The only difference in content is that Module 2 has a great deal of flash objects, more than three times that of any of the other six modules. Module 2 does not have any question slides, where as all but one of the other modules does. I mention this because when attempting to get technical support all they did was ask about question slides. I've run the debug mode for this module in the LMS and also for Module 1, which is successfully tracking as Completed. What I've found, in comparing the information from debug mode, is that Module 2 is not being initialized. The LMS hosting provider is telling us it is a courseware problem and isn't helping to f

Hi, I'm trying to do a project involving coldfusion and j2ee (is this a good idea, btw?), and i've encountered some problems on installing coldfusion. i've installed apache (tested and works well with a j2ee project), jdk 1.5.0.6 - tested with a few projects and works fine, and a plugin for eclipse (cfeclipse i think) next i've installed "coldfusion-702-win.exe" (dowloaded from macromedia, developer version - it said there it's supposed to work with j2ee). the installer made 2 directories: CFusionMX7 and ColdFusionSearchService. in the first one there is the "cfusion.war" file which i copied in the tomcat webapps directory (along with the "CFIDE.war" file). then i started the apache server and it created (all by itself 😉 ) a couple of directories in the webapps dir: CFIDE and cfusion (which contain more subdirectories and files) next i created the "setenv.bat" file, as instructed on this website (which contains the paths to coldfusion directories, the paths written there

My project requires me to import a text file into a dynamic text field by using the loadVariables() function. My problem is that the text file contains a ampersign "&" . It seems that the ampersign stops the rest of the text from being imported into my flash movie. Is there a special character or escape character that I can use to allow me to import the ampersign? I've tried using the & and setting my dynamic text field to HTML. No luck. Oh.. I'm using flash MX :( Any ideas?

I was doing some testing of some CF pages that I developed and ran across a problem I've not seen discussed. I am pulling information from a database and have found that occasionally there are amperstands in the data that I'm displaying (a company name like Johnson & Johnson, for example). The page displays ok in IE, but it doesn't validate when using the validator at w3.org. My questions are these: should I care that these pages won't validate? Might there be browsers that wouldn't display this information correctly? If so, should I be doing a replace(myfield,"&", "&", "all") everytime I display a text field just in case the data contains an amperstand?

I am doing a 9-1-1 reporting system. I am selecting calls by Agency and type of call for a given month. That works fine, but I need them printed in desending sequence by number call far a call type. Don't see anyway to accomplish that with one query. Is that a way? If not, the second part of this question is that I have not created a table using SQL. I need 3 fields, Field_A is Text (9 positions); Field_B is Text (40 Positions) and the last is my summarized count from the query. How do I create a Table to support this function? Query <cfquery name="GetEventCount" datasource="JasperCountyDB"> select count(AG_ID) as EventCount, TYCOD, TYP_ENG, CURENT from aeven where ((AG_ID = '#Session.InquiryAgencyCode#') AND (CURENT = 'T') AND (CDTS LIKE '#EventReportDate#')) group by AG_ID, TYCOD, TYP_ENG, CURENT </cfquery> Thanks for any guideance that you can provide. Ron

Hi all. I've read in some data from an xml file that contains various x and y coordinates. I need to now draw lines between them all. I understand how to draw A line ie: _root.createEmptyMovieClip("triangle_mc", 1); triangle_mc.moveTo(182, 508); triangle_mc.lineStyle(1, 0xFF00FF, 100); triangle_mc.lineTo(values[xaxis], values[ i ]); Which works just fine. The problem is, I do not know how many lines I will need. I tried doing some sort of naming standard such as this: temp = "lineName"+count _root.createEmptyMovieClip(temp, 1) count++ temp.moveTo(182, 508); temp.lineStyle(1, 0xFF00FF, 100); temp.lineTo(values[xaxis], values[ i ]); but to no avail. Perhaps I am missing something obvious here. Could anyone point me in the right direction or perhaps a better way to do this? Thanks in advance!

I'm trying to determine the TOC books can be set to display as "open" by default when the Help is opened? I see a similar question back in March, but see no replies. Any info is greatly appreciated. Joe

Hello, I am trying to create a scrolling ticker that rolls across the bottom of the page (like what you see on news channels). What I currently have works but it looks a little choppy. I use SetInterval for my ScrollTicker function, within that function I modify the ._x of the textbox (txtScrollBar._x -= 1). Is there a better way to do this? Oh also the way I do it I have to take the text and multiply it many many times so that it doesn't roll off the screen. Surely there's a way to "wrap" text horizontally so when the right edge runs out of text it starts at the begging of the string? Thanks.

If this is the action scripting in the main timeline for a button, and the button path is download.btn shouldn't this work? download.btn.onRelease= function() { getURL(" http://www.google.com/","_blank"); }; Right now when it's opened the url ( http://www.google.com) comes up in a separate browser, in addition to opening another browser when the button is clicked. Any idea why it would trigger when the movie loaded as well? If you want to look at the .fla file it is found here: http://www.midnight007.com/pizza/layer_100slices.fla

I have an Access 2002 table with tble_persons with a field name Password. If I have a form with a field called password and try to insert it into the table using the CFINSERT function, I get the following error message: The given fieldname "PASSWORD" could not be found in the table If I change the fieldname to "xword" or "var_password" it works. I haven't found any Dreamweaver, Cold Fusion, or MS Access documentation that says "Password" is a reserved word. Can anyone explain why I can't use password in this manner? Seth

Hi there, I need to order a list of companies and contacts. They want me to ignore the "The" that comes before some company name. So they want me to order alphabetically "The Smith Company" by S and not T. How do I do this? Thank you!! I have a regular select statement that pulls up the list. My db is oracle.

Hi.. I'm new to Captivate. This is what I'm trying to do. Have a you try mode. 1. I have text that a user must enter, but what happens is in playback mode, the user can enter the data, but then the typing I did when originally capturing starts up...how can I get rid of that typing but still have the input text boxes work? 2. Is there a way to auto populate an input box so it knows to start with say a zero? 3. If I delete the typing layer, it removes the text from that image so I've lost a screenshot (slide) so is there maybe a way to populate a document as you go along so say if you type 36 in a field, you can carry that 36 to all the rest of the slides in a sequence. 4. Lastely, the application we're using for the captivate has a time on it so if I don't record everything at the same time and quickly the times on each slide are all off - does Captivate has a timer feature or do I need to create a little clock flash to insert on every screen? Hope this makes sense...hope some one

I am creating a maze game which uses a random maze generator which has the attached code in it Unfortunately, this generates the following error quote: 256 levels of recursion were exceeded in one action list. I have measured the program (i originally made it in javascript, in which it works), and it can reach upto 1100 levels of recursion. Is there anyway of bypassing the error? Thanks

Can anyone please help me with a "remove from favourites" facility i'm working on. I query to get all the favouites, then i output those favourites down the page each favourite has a "remove from favourites" link - i want to make it so when a user clicks this link they get a javascript confirm box pop up saying "are you sure you want to remove #favourites name# from your favourites?" so i have.. function remove(profile, name) { if (confirm("Are you sure you want to remove #name# from your favourites?")) { window.location = "remove_from_favourites.cfm?deleteFavID=#profile#&removedName=#name#" } } and <div onClick="remove(#rs_favs.favouriteeID#,#rs_favs.firstName#)" >Remove from favourites</div> but it doesn't work - i think there are 2 problems.. problem 1 - i have used the CF # in the remove function as i don't know what one does in javascript to "output" a variable (see where it says "Are you sure you want to remove #name# from your favourites") what should i

First of all, I must say that I hate Robo X5's "Edit Map IDs" dialog box. It's way too small. If I could make it full screen at least, it might help. But that's not my main problem here. I use FrameMaker 7 to write content, and then import this content into Robo X5 HTML in order to create a chm help file. We need map id's for the programmers, so I use the "Edit Map IDs" (clumsily) to match up the map id's with the topics. I reuse the same .h file every time. So at least the numbers get preserved there. BUT is there a way like a "topic alias marker " or something that I can use in Framemaker so I don't have to map the numbers to the topics in Robo? It's very tedious, especially with the almost unusable Edit Map IDs box in Robo. Thanks Mark
