Major Issues with Kerning/Tracking

Hi,

Im having some strange things happen with my Adobe illustrator CC. It seems to be triggered when I use the auto "tracking" tab under Character.

I will have one word highlighted, change the tracking value, then strange things start to happen. It could be the word highlighted doesn't change, but another word does. The bounding box disappears. Words jump around on my document. When I press Command Z to undo the strange things - the document jumps back about 20 steps and I have to recreate things. Sometimes I cant even move anything properly, and end up having to quit entirely and restart.

I have tried installing an old version and still getting the same problem, I have also tried the command "e" and it does nothing.

Can anyone help?

    I have the same issue, don't use a font manager, don't understand why non-highlighted rows are changing. Super frustrating.

    In the attached gif, I set the tracking for a row, then select a different text element entirely and the tracking adjusts the previously set row of text.

    Hi Jeremy,

    I am having the same issues when I use Illustrator. Do you remember what the Adobe community told you to do to fix it?

    I have the same issue. Bounding box vanishes. Text jumps around artboard. Logo design verging on impossible.

      Could you please post screenshots including the pertinent Panels to illustrate?

      Which fonts are affected by the issue?

      Which version on which system is this?

      Any third party plugins installed?

      Which font? Is that font checked for corruption?

      When did you last restart the computer?

      Did you already try resetting the preferences?

      Did this ever work correctly?


      This is Illustrator version 22.0.0, so I see there is an update I can install. But I have changed to lower versions in the hope it might help and that didn't work. 

      System is MAC OS High Sierra 10.13.3

      Have checked all fonts for corruption and they are fine. It is no font in particular. Can happen with any font.

      I shut computer down every day.

      I haven't reset preferences.

      Yes this problem has only been occurring this year.
