M: Catalina - Save as/Save as copy not changing file name or extension

This happened today, yesterday it was working fine.  I have all the latest CC updates.

 

With my Photoshop file open, I go to FILE, SAVE AS, tick AS A COPY, choose format .jpg

Filename remains .psd therefore it has to be changed manually.

 

Yesterday I updated to Catalina. Could there be a correlation?

 

Does anyone have a fix please? T.I.A. 🙂

    This is fixed with Monterey 12.1. So it was an apple fix

    I can't seem to save my work either! I am soooo pissed off!!!!!

    Sounds like a Catalina permissions problem. Try creating a new Mac user account with administrative level permissions.  Google it for more details.

    simple: do the "save as copy", go to the folder that have both. now; take the "as copy" file to another folder. change its name to the orginal one name (that without "copy" word); copy the file after changing its name and paste it the past folder. computer will ask you if you want to change the new one with the orginal file. say yes.

    Hello, since the document has been updated, some participants might miss the fact that the 20.0.7 updates fixes this very issue. 

    Run your creative cloud application to update Photoshop to the latest version, while there might still be other compatibility issues.

    Bonjour, macOS 10.15.1 et PS 21.0.1 la fonction Enregistrer en tant que copie ne fonctionne pas.
    Si on active cette fonction dans le dialogue, le nom de fichier présent dans le dialogue n'est pas modifié, le suffixe "copie" n'y est pas ajouté.
    Dans l'interface de PS, le nom de l'onglet du fichier n'est pas mis à jour, veuillez observer la vidéo jointe, merci.

    Hello, macOS 10.15.1 and PS 21.0.1 function to Record as copy does not work.
    If they speed up this function in dialogue, the name of present file in dialogue is not changed, the suffix 'copies ' am not added to it.

    Hi,

    Since I switched to Catalina, I notice that there is problem of file extension with Photoshop.

    When I save my image, Photoshop does not make the extension change. (see attached)

    Had the same issue, turned off firevault and it now works.

      Just updated my Mac OS from 10.14 Mojave to 10.15 Catalina - not swure if this has any bearing, but when I save a 2019 Photoshop file as a PDF or any other kind of file, I used to see the file name automatically change in the Save As window, now it doesn't, which is a real pain. Any thoughts or suggestions?

      You should always wait for AT LEAST a month befeore upgrading to a new operating system, to be sure that all of the programs you use are going to keep working properly

      Hi everyone,

       

      I don't recall when, but starting recently, whenever I save files, the extension wouldn't be changing according to what file format I choose to save with. (See the attached photos)

      Ex: when you save, if you choose png, the file extension changed to ".png" automatically (for all others too) before, but it doesn't do that anymore.

       

      My photoshop is up to date, as well as my creative cloud. It's a small thing, but it becomes kinda big of a hassle to change the extension every single time.

      I upgraded my Mac to Catalina today. Whilst working on an image I attempted to save the image. In this case I went to image-save as and the image appeared as defalt type of PSD, as it often does. However when I tried to change to jpg, as I usually do and chose jpg from the drop down list, it would not change psd to jpg, as it always used to. In fact it didn't matter what i picked, the image extension remains psd. I have to phosically type in the extension letters. 

       

      Is this a bit of a bug with Catalina OS?

      Just recently updated my Mac OS. Photoshop is up to date.  For some reason, when I go to save files now, Photoshop nolonger automatically adds file extensions to my files.  I have to manually add (.jpg, .png, .psd, etc.) 

      Anyone experiencing the same?  Is there a way to fix?  Do I need to uninstall Photoshop and reinstall?
