I'd like to have an animation that letters appear one by one with the time.     I know for single line I can use effect to clip the text and set key frames to the effect. But how can I actually do this for multi lines text? I don't want to create two texts separately

Yes, it's definitely After Effects you would use for such task.

In Premiere you would need to animate each letter separately, it would take way too long and in After Effects you could even use an animation preset that would do it for you 😉

If you have it, it might be worth looking at After Effects.
