Why does Creative ALL apps plan not include the 3D substance apps

New Here ,
Jul 27, 2023 Jul 27, 2023

Was a little dissapointed when I got the all apps pack, when it doesn't include all the apps on the apps page.

Why does it say All apps if it's not all apps?

For the same reasons it doesn't include eLearning tools like Captivate, Digital Assets Management tools like Adobe Experience Manager or the other Adobe niche products.

3D is a sub-specialty that appeals to a select group of designers.

If Adobe added Substance 3D to Creative Cloud, regular Creative Cloud users would have to pay more for something they may not need or want.

As a person who uses both 2d Adobe products and other unaffiliated 3d software. This is a BS, head in the sand, "I don't listen to customers" response. I would love to be able to use both Photoshop, Illustrator and Substance designer tools as part of my 3d workflow. But paying for 2 subscriptions is ludicrous.

If I could have a custom plan, it would include:

Photoshop - post edit renderings

Illustrator - 2 graphics for signs/posters in 3d environment

Premiere Pro - video

After Effects - animation

Acrobat - pdf viewing/editing

Substance 3D Painter - texturing 3d objects

hard to say why adobe chose to call a plan "all apps" when it's not even close to including all adobe apps.

Why does it say All apps if it's not all apps?

By @xxOkata

Yes, it can be confusing. It's not the first time we've seen a comment like this. It must seem odd to those unfamiliar with Adobe.

On the other end of the scale, others have asked why Photoshop Elements is not included in the All Apps plan. There's no clear answer other than Photoshop is already included.

Keep in mind that Adobe sells, or offers subscriptions for, close to 100 separate apps aimed at consumer, professional and enterprise. 30 or so of those are in the Creative Cloud.

Cutting through the Adobe jargon, the best I can make out is that All Apps refers specifically to all Creative Apps in the Adobe ecosystem.

They've also got several other app categories: 3D, Document Cloud, eLearning, marketing and ecommerce amongst others.

It appear to me that saying I have "All Apps" and then not having all apps is deceptive.

Adobe has different bundles for various types of users.

  • Creative Cloud is one such bundle.
  • Photography is another.
  • Substance is aimed at 3D & AR creators only.
  • Captivate & e-Learning is another sub-specialty, not included in Creative Cloud.

Agreed.  I was fortunate to learn this before committing to the subscription.  I would be paying for many things in "All Apps" that I have no use for and not getting the apps I need for my complete workflow.  Adobe needs to stop pretending it knows what the user needs and allow for a customized bundle at an affordable price.  In particular, the intersection of AI with additive and subtrractive manufacturing equipment at incredibly affordable consumer price points make 3D no longer a sub niche.

If not carefully adapting to the needs of its customers and the rapidly changing dynamics in the market (i.e. agile newcomers, open source apps, and AI tools in particular), Adobe will find itself repeating history, littered with seemingly untouchable, former dominate players in the tech world with the likes of Word Perfect, Lotus 123, Harvard Graphics, Corel Draw, Novell, Peoplesoft, IBM, Blackberry, Sun Microsystems, and numerous others.  Where there is a demand, there will be a supply and we are at a tipping point.

@AnotherAlias,

It's called discount pricing for bundles.  My cable/streaming service does the same thing.

I probably use only 5 or 6 of the 20 or so products & services.  But it's much cheaper for the ALL APPS plan vs buying them à la carte.  Do the math.

Single Annual Plan: $23/month x 5 products = $115/month.

All Apps plan: $60/month.

Students & Teachers: $20/month

Why pay more?
