Accessible PDF from Excel table spanning many pages

Hi,

I have a table that spans many pages. I have created the Excel document to be as accessible as possible.

1) There is H1 heading on A1 cell.

2) From A2 to G2 contains the header information for the table.

3) A2 to G895 is a table (inserted via insert table).

4) On the table design tab, the Header Row checkbox is checked.

5) There are no empty rows in the table but some cells may not have values - but a whole row is not empty.

6) Page layout is landscape and the print area is set up using Set Print Area to cover the whole table

When this Excel sheet is saved as PDF (either using Save As or Create PDF) the output PDF is not very accessible. Some of the errors reported by PDF accessibility checker I have remediated using the Action Wizard tool. But still, the H1 on the A1 cell is taken as a table header. And the PDF thinks that there are multiple tables and 14 different Table tags are included in the PDF.

The issue shown in the Accessibility checker are 14 instances of Headers - Failed but this is because part of the table is taken as separate tables.

Is anyone able to help understand why this is happening, please?

Many thanks in advance

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.

If “Save as PDF” shows the same symptoms, it seems to be an Excel issue. Save as PDF is completely Microsoft implemented, with no Adobe software involved.
