Question

Acrobat 64 bit "Not responding".

I had to re-install Windows 11, 64 bit, on my laptop. I later re-installed Acrobat Pro 64 bit, for which I have a licence, but now I can't get Acrobat to edit any PDF files. When I select "Edit" Acrobat just stops responding. Sometimes, after 10 minutes, if I return to that file then the egg timer has gone away, but as soon as I select another option to do something then the same error appears - "Stopped responding".

I have tried using Acrobat 64 bit and 32 bit, and used the Adobe program that deletes any Adobe application beforehand but nothing works.

Acrobat worked perfectly before I re-installed Windows, and any other programs that I have re-installed are all working perfectly.

Perhaps someone might have an answer to this problem ?

Hi @Pierre6551

Thank you for reaching out and we are extremely sorry for the inconvenience caused. To troubleshoot and fix the issue, can we please request you for some additional information

  1.           What is the version of Acrobat that you are using?
  2.           Is it possible for you to share the document that is leading to hang state?
  3.           Can you please share OS version?
  4.           Additional details :
  •          Is the hang file-specific, or does it occur with any file?
  •          Does the hang state occur for other acrobat workflows as well?
  •          Have you tried restarting your system, and does it help in preventing the not responding state?

Regards,

Ankita

Have same issue this morning.  Adobe Acrobat Standard (64-bit) (Not Responding)

Tried Repair and uninstall/reinstall. Still same issue.

Just updated to Windows 24H2.

Edition Windows 11 Home
Version 24H2
Installed on ‎12/‎10/‎2024
OS build 26100.2605
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.36.0

Apparently this is becoming a known issue per some posts back in Oct. Would like to know status and correction.

The only way that I have been able to fix this problem was to go to Adobe, who then agreed a cost to buy a lifetime licence for Acrobat 2020 which they support with new updates.

When I downloaded Acrobat 2020 I found that all the problems went away. So although I am not using the very latest version of Acrobat I have an up-to-date version of Acrobat 2020 which works correctly and without crashing my laptop whenever I want to search for a .pdf file.

In fairness to Adobe they have provided a lifetime licence and the fee wasn't too bad, so I am happy with my outcome.
