Question

Acrobat Chrome Extension- Custom ranged print jobs stuck in spooling state when using ctrl+shift+p

Hello,

When I open a PDF using the google chrome acrobat extension, I am able to print custom page ranges using the normal google chrome print dialogue. However, if I pull up the chrome print dialogue, then press ctrl+shift+p to pull up the windows print dialogue and try printing a custom range, the print job gets stuck in the "spooling" status.

When the extension is disabled, and I open a PDF using google chrome, I am able to print custom ranges using the windows print dialogue. I am also able to print custom ranges using the acrobat desktop app and a different PDF app called PDF24.

Note: I am using Windows 10 Pro version 22H2, Google Chrome version 107.0.5304.122 and Adobe Acrobat Chrome extension version 15.1.3.32.

Please see the attached video.

Thanks!

If this is happening due to changing to a different default printing device frequently, you may want to restart the spooler service.

Also, if you go to Control Panel==> Devices and Printers ==> right-click on the default printer ==> select Properties from the context menuu ==> click on the "Hardware" tab of that window dialogue box ==> click on the "Properties" button ==> go to the "Events" tab in the next dialogue window ==> scroll down in the "Information" section and see where it says "Device Updated:".

If it says "false" try also updating the device drivers.

Thank you for your response!

I do not change my default printer very frequently, however, I still restarted the spooler service. I also followed the steps that you provided, and it didn't say "false". Nevertheless, I attempted to update the HP Universal printer driver for PCL6 using device manager and the newest update from the internet. I found that my print drivers are up to date.

Unfortunately, I still ran into the same problem after making both these changes.

Note- my default printer is an HP laserjet M553. I also tried printing to a larger RICOH MP4055 and ran into the same problem.

Is Adobe Acrobat set as the default PDF handler in that system or ist it Google Chrome web browser?
