Hi,

I'm working on a PDF document of 44 pages, edit from INDESIGN, which mix text & images.

My client send me back the PDF document with comments on bubbles.

I was editing the comments on bubbles, and once i reach the second half of the document, it keep crashing after i edit new comments (especially when i want to go to the next page, using the mouse's wheel).

How to fix that issue ? Is it a bug of the software ? Is there any fix ?

Thanks for your help !

Hi Jossminte,

As per the description above, the Acrobat Pro DC is crashing when you try to edit any comment in a PDF, Is that correct?

Please check for any pending updates for Acrobat Pro DC from Help>Check for updates.

You may also try to repair the installation files of Acrobat Pro DC from Help>Repair Installation.

If this does not help, please check with any other PDF file.

Is it a Mac or Windows machine?

Check the dot version of Acrobat Pro DC installed, launch Acrobat>navigate to Help menu>select About Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.

You may refer to the following links: For Windows: Resolve Acrobat DC intermittent crashes on Windows

For Mac: Acrobat Pro keeps crashing every 8-10 seconds on Mac Lion (Installation & updates)

Keep us posted with the results.

Regards,

Anand Sri.

Yes, just lost an hour of work, Adobe closed and disappeared during trying to undo a comment strikethrough, no warning, and when I restarted the recovered file was not openable.

Hi @defaultv0zgntcqev8b,

I hope you're doing well, and we apologize for the trouble.

Please ensure that you have the latest version of Acrobat installed (24.005.20320). You can check for updates by navigating to the Help menu in Acrobat and selecting Check for Updates. If updates are available, download and install them, then restart the app and, if possible, your device. Once updated, please check if the app is still crashing.

For additional troubleshooting steps, you can refer to this helpful article: Troubleshoot Acrobat Crashes.

After updating, try opening the PDF file and check if you’re able to make changes to the comments.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,
Anand Sri.

Hi Adamg,

If it's working in the root account, then it seems to be a user profile issue of your operating system. You may try to create a test user profile and work on Acrobat.

I will look into a solution asap and will follow up with you.

Thanks for your time and patience.

Regards,

Anand Sri.

Nope, I tried wiping my hd and it still has an issue. I guess acrobat only works if it's the only program on the mac and nothing else. I also haven't heard back from AnandSri since that last message he sent so i'm still waiting on that too.

Hi,

I activated the root account and adobe seems to be working under that account. I've uploaded a video screenshot of what is going on. It shows how it crashes when I click out of the program.

Is there a way i can share a video of what is going on so you can see exactly what is happening? Now it's to a point where if I click out of acrobat to open a new file or even just clicking on the desktop will crash the whole program.

I apologize for the inconvenience caused. As I understand from the description above, the Acrobat Pro DC is crashing in Mac OS 10.13, Is that correct?

Please try the troubleshooting steps from the following KB doc: Troubleshoot Mac OS 10.x system errors, freezes | Adobe software  Link: https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/troubleshoot-system-errors-freezes-mac.html

You can also try to reset the Acrobat Preferences, to reset preferences refer to How to reset Preference settings in Acrobat. Link: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1595848
