Acrobat hangs when adding signatures

Whenever I try to create a new signature Acrobat hangs up on a dimmed window. I have attempted the following with no success:

  • Uninstall/reinstall acrobat and creative cloud applications
  • Deleted signature files in ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat/DC/Security
  • Disabled "new acrobat" UI
  • Disabled enhanced security
  • Disabled protected mode at startup

 

I am running a new install of Acrobat on an M4 Pro Macbook Pro MacOS Sequoia 15.4 Beta (24E5206s). I would appreciate some help on how to resolve this. I atteched logs and a breif recording on the issue. Thanks!

I just installed beta 2 and acrobat is working as expected now!

Hey! I've gone through something similar recently, and here's what helped me fix it — or at least narrow it down to the cause. Since you have macOS Sequoia 15.4 Beta with an M4 Pro, this could be a compatibility issue, but try these simple steps first:

 

Check App Permissions:

Open System Settings 

→ Scroll down to Privacy & Security

→ Click Files and Folders, Camera, and Microphone

Make sure Acrobat is listed and allowed everywhere it appears. You can also then toggle the permissions off and back on again.

 

Reset Acrobat Preferences:

Quit Acrobat, and then go to:

~/Library/Preferences

~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat

~/Library/Caches/Adobe/Acrobat

Move those Acrobat folders up to your Desktop (don't delete them yet) and open Acrobat again. It should create new settings, etc.

 

Try a New macOS User Account:

Create a new account under System Settings 

→ Users & Groups and test Acrobat there.

If it works well, then some sort of corruption or conflict with your prior macOS user account’s settings or cache may be the issue.

 

Run Acrobat as Rosetta:

Right-click Acrobat,  

→ Get Info, 

→ "Open using Rosetta" should be checked.

Close it, then boot it up again to see if it can complete the signature function.

This will also help it run if it is an M4/ARM issue with the beta macOS.

 

If It’s Still Hanging:

It’s probably a bug.

Thank you, brendanB82B, for reporting this issue. We were able to reproduce it on our end. It appears to be specific to the latest macOS 15.4 beta version. We have raised a ticket with Apple and will keep you posted for updates on any progress.

I have the same issue across all my macs (M3 macbook pro, Mac studio Ultra and Macmini M2) - I have uninstalled and reinstalled and still happening.
