Acrobat PDF text shows as unreadable squares.

I'm having problems getting the text in this PDF to actually show, I've tried selecting and changing the font, I've tried going into the printing preferences and disabling "Rely on system fonts only". I also tried opening the PDF on Chrome and Edge, but those just show blank PDFs where the square text is in Acrobat. I'm not sure what to do next.

 

The first attachment with the rectangles for text is in Acrobat, and the blank screenshot is from Edge.

This was a known issue and has been addressed in the latest version available: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/release-note/release-notes-acrobat-reader.html 

 

To update Acrobat, Launch Acrobat > Help Menu > Check for Updates.

I also was able to use preflight and the "List potential font problems" profile and was returned this.

Try running a preflight fixup to embed the fonts. If that doesn't work, can you upload a sample pdf?
