Question

Acrobat replace text tool color

I am using Acrobat 24.1 and have been using it for approximately 6 months. I am on an iMac with the latest OS.

Suddenly the Add Note to Replace text (select text and right click) is using a red strikethrough and a red caret. Until now it has always been a blue strikethrough and a blue caret. See Screenshot.

I would like to revert to the blue because the red is easily confused with the Delete text tool (or simple Strikethrough tool).

I see that I can right click on the selected text and there is an option for "Properties", however when I select that the options to do anything (change color, the tabs, etc...) are greyed out and I can't change anything or navigate between the tabs. See screenshot.

I reverted to the previous version of Acrobat, using View>>Disable New Acrobat, and the Add Note to Replace Text is again blue. See Screenshot.

This seems like it is a problem with the latest update. Has anyone figured out how to set the Add Note to Replace Text tool to blue in the latest version.

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

Would you mind sharing the complete version of the OS and the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 24.02.2089x installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here (https://adobe.ly/3S0SRAp)

You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights or enable the root account in MAC (https://adobe.ly/3S4H3gp) and try using the application there and check.

If it still doesn't work please share the the Adobe CC logs (https://adobe.ly/3xVO50f) for further investigation.

Has there been any resolution on this? I did a reset of my Acrobat preferences, and that didn't change anything.

This isn't just a "nice to have." It is OUTRAGEOUS that the "replace text" and the "delete text" colors are the same, and you can't change the "replace text" to any other color and then make it the default color. My designers have been simply deleting the words that have the red strikethrough on them instead of replacing them, such that I now have to add to every PDF: Please use the Comments panel to review my changes—"replace text" and "delete text" are now rendered using the same color.

It's beyond annoying. I can't even count the number of changes Adobe has made in the recent builds (past year or so) that have seriously hampered my effeciency and productivity. I use Acrobat for my job (I'm an editor) at least six hours a day. Sometimes far more.

If you can't make blue the default color, at least give me the ability to do it. It's just a checkbox that's on many other Properties panel.

Oh my goodness, @hadleyk78468788 ,  THIS WORKED FOR ME! What a gift I have received from you on this dreary Monday morning? (It's not actually dreary—the Colorado sky is the most brilliant blue—but Mondays are, in general, dreary. 😉 )

THANK YOU!!

I'm so glad it helped!! Glad to hear that this Monday wasn't dreary!
