Acrobat Version 23.0 - Can't find Initial View tab, Accessibility/Tags Panes are missing

Creative Cloud automatically updated Acrobat to this latest version and I feel like I'm losing my mind because I can no longer find the "Initial View" tab, and also the "tools" options are drastically reduced.

  • Is there still a way to set initial view options such as having the Bookmarks pane open when the file opens?
  • How are we supposed to fix tags/accessibility now? I don't see any way to open or view tags or containers, and the accessibility tools grouping is entirely gone.

What's going on???? Is it supposed to be like this? If so, why????????????????

Hi @dianez43665671,

A couple of quick suggestions:

  • Check to make sure it launched Adobe Acrobat Pro, and not the free Reader.
  • Sometimes when an update is done, users must re-setup their workspace to shows the panels and tools they use.
    • For the left-side panels (Tags, Order, Thumbnails, etc.) go to View / Show-HIde / Navigation and select the panels you want to see.
    • For the right-side tools (Accessibility, Edit PDF, etc.) go to View / Tools and select the ones you want.
  • Initial View settings are in the file's properties: Go to File / Properties and select the second tab at the top.

Hope this helps get things back on track.

Hi Bevi,

Thanks for the response! The problem was that for some reason, although I did not have Adobe Reader installed and nominally had Adobe Acrobat installed, all PDFs were opening on Reader. I had to uninstall and reinstall Acrobat on Creative Cloud and that resolved the issue. What a relief. Thank you!

What does you see at the properties of the document?
