Adobe 2020 not responding after trying to merge files

I am having trouble combining files in Acrobat. When attempting to combine files, Acrobat freezes up and says not responding. I have tried the steps found when using a google search such as checking for updates and repairing the installation. I have tried to reinstall Adobe 2020 and it still freezes everytime I try to merge files.

Hello!

I hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out.

Could you please share more details about the issue, as requested by our community product expert? For example, what is the current version of Acrobat and the OS version? Is it specific to one set of PDFs or all the PDFs? Does the app freeze or go into not responding mode when you use a different tool?

Try merging the files once using the Acrobat online services and see if you get an error message. Please ensure you have the latest version of Acrobat 2020: 20.005.30763,, Planned update, Mar 11, 2025 installed.

Use the Acrobat Cleaner tool to remove the installed app, restart the machine, ensure all the operating system mandatory and optional updates are installed, and then install Acrobat 2020.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

What's the exact version number of the application (You can find it out by going to Help - About Adobe Acrobat)? What's your OS version?

Does this happen with any files you're trying to merge? Try two very simple and small files you created yourself in Acrobat. Does it work then?
