Adobe Acrobat DC Running extremely slow when opening a PDF produced using AutoCAD

Hi

I'm having a reoccuring problem using Adobe Acrobat DC to read PDFs produced using AutoCAD 2022 LT. The files sizes are between 1-5mb and include multiple layers (standard for AutoCAD drawings). When I open on the files the program lags and in some cases freezes to the point where it is non-functioning. Has something changed with Adobe Acrobat? I've been using Acrobat for years to read large pdfs without any lag or slow down. Is there a solution to this problem?

Thanks

Fairly sure it is somthing to do with shading. I open dozens ofg PDF drawins a wekk from loads of different sources. It si normally the ones with shading that cuase problems. I can't tell my end what version of CAD they used, so I appreciate this is not diagnositic but try the drawins without shading and see what happens.

Could you try following steps:
Reboot the machine once if you haven't already and check.
Check if an update is available for Acrobat using "Check for updates" option under "Help" menu, reboot the machine after installing update and try again.

This is not a useful answer.

I am having the same issue. Sometimes it takes several minutes to respond and then going to another page starts the process over.

Hi @SStaley

Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that.

Would you mind sharing the version of the OS and the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 22.2.20212 installed. Go to Help > check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Also, please check if this issue is limited to Auto CAD files or with other PDF files as well.

A small video recording of the steps you are doing and the issue you are experiencing will be very helpful.

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that.

Would you mind sharing the version of the Mac OS and the Acrobat Pro DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 22,120142 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Also, please check if this issue is limited to Auto CAD files or with other PDF files as well.

Just adding 2 years later that Acrobat still has trouble reading basic CAD drawings where other programs have no issue whatsoever. I have a 5 page document from Rhinoceros 8: 3 pages of shaded views and 2 pages of plan drawings. Acrobat DC can't manage to load it (on a i9-1200K + 3090). Yet Chrome can read it in a few seconds as I'm sharing the drawings with collaborators (who are using laptops) over Google Drive. I can load it on my mobile in a few seconds.

Why is it that Chrome drastically outperforms Acrobat at its own purpose?

I'm failry certain it's an issue with Acrobat, not user machines or other software, and it is getting worse. Years ago, I've made several 50+ page documents out of Rhinoceros with shaded / rendered views of 3D parts and never had this issue with Acrobat fumbling like this.

Hi @hynzla,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for the trouble, and the delayed response.

We are aware of the issue, and the team is working on it.

The fix should be live very soon.
