Adobe Acrobat DC wont detect my scanner

I just bought a scan snap ix500 for my business and I redeemed the Adobe Acrobat DC code that came with it. I opened up adobe and went to File-Create pdf-from scanner and when I chose that it said no scanner was in the list. I have uninstalled the scanner, reinstalled it, and tried researching the issue to no luck. All I would like to get it to do is when I press the scan button have it come up in Adobe Acrobat DC and allow me to start editing the text within the scanned document. I have tested the scanner out on other things and it works just fine. I am using a windows 7 64 bit pc and latest updates.

You have to add Adobe to ScanSnap (not the other way around).

This is expected, if surprising. Although Fujitsu bundle the Acrobat software, it is NOT FOR SCANNING with their scanner. You must scan using Fujitsu's software. THEN you can choose to have the PDF open in Acrobat, ready for OCR or whatever task you want to follow. Fujitsu chose to do this to get the most out of their hardware (which works very well). I have tried all these troubleshooting steps and none of them work. I am able to scan within the Scan Snap program itself that comes with it. I just cant get Adobe DC to detect the scanner for some reason. I can scan in word and other programs just fine.

I guess its clear and expected behavior then right from the manufacturer.
