Adobe Acrobat September 14 Update - 2021.007.20091 - FDF issue

Explorer ,
Sep 15, 2021 Sep 15, 2021

The September 14 Adobe Acrobat DC Update - 2021.007/20091 has introduced an issue when opening an FDF file outside of Acrobat (such as by Double-Clicking the FDF file in Windows Explorer) on Windows 10.  Every time this is attempted, Windows reinstalls the Update before opening the PDF associated with the FDF file.  This has never happened before (and not with the previous version 2021.005.20060).

Until this is fixed, is there a way to revert to Version 2021.005.20060?

Make sure that the FDF extension is associated with the Acrobat software and not with the update.

Hi Meenakshi,

Bhavna Negi was able to reproduce this bug (see below).

There also doesn't appear to be any way to rollback Version 2021.007.20091 (also see below).

When will this be fixed by Adobe?

I had a remote session with Adobe yesterday. THERE IS A WAY TO ROLLBACK! Here it is:

1. Uninstall Adobe - DO NOT RESTART PC

2. Download Acrobat Pro DC Installer from this site https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-downloads.html

3. DO NOT RESTART PC - Open the newly installed Adobe, go to Edit - Preferences - Updater - Uncheck Auto Update

4. Install the July 2021 update from here - https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/continuous/dccontinuousjuly2021qfe...  DO NOT RESTART PC

5. Repeat STEP 3

This has worked for me!

Hi Angela,

Thanks for the info.

Do you know if this will work if using Creative Cloud or only if you have the standalone version?

Hi Angela,

Thanks so much for going to bat for all of us.

A slight correction:

The Link on your last message: https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/continuous/dccontinuousjuly2021qfe doesn't work.

Should be: https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/continuous/dccontinuousjuly2021qfe...

Hi Bhavna,

A User on this Thread marked this issue as Solved - the FDF issue has not been.  How do I unmark this?

Also, attempted to use the Link you recommended: -https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/index.html to install a previous version both before and after uninstalling Acrobat DC 2021.007.20091 and received the attached Error Message dialog.  As also reported by another User on this thread (AngelaSCAB), Creative Cloud does not offer an Other Versions option for Adobe Acrobat DC installation.

Need to Install Version 2021.005.20060 or earlier as this bug is causing major disruptions for my Clients.

Thanks for your help

Marshal

@Laboc Srl

Are you seeing the crash happening with any PDF or a specific file? If you can kindly share the test file.

1. Please share a video of the issue observed.

2. What OS are you seeing this issue?

3. Please confirm the DC version. Use link https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/identify-product-version.html#track_version
