Adobe PDF Maker Font Conversion issue

Hi There

recently we have discovered that certain fonts we use do not convert to PDF Properly when using adobe acrobat addin for Office 365 (PDF Maker)

We have a few different Calibre Fonts that our company uses:

Calibre

Calibre Light

Calibre Medium

Calibre Semibold

All of these fonts convert fine with no formatting

But if you make Calibre Semibold or Calibre Medium bolded, they then convert to Times New Roman when creating PDF

Calibre Light and Calibre will convert fine when bolded

i have ticked embedded fonts in Adobe PDF Maker but this doesnt help

i have done so much testing but cannot for the life of me seem to figure out what the issue is

any ideas would be much appreciated

thanks

What happens when you use the Save as PDF?

The problem may lie in the fact that Microsoft Word uses Faux Bold for fonts that do not have a bold variant.

If you File > Save as > select PDF in drop down - there are no issues

While I know using the drop down option to save as PDF is a work around. Most users convert via the Save as Adobe PDF button.

Hi @ing_shin_2132,

We are working on this, and the fix should be available soon.

Would you mind checking in the Acrobat Ribbon-> Preferences-> Advanced Settings-> Fonts-> if the checkboxes "Embed all Fonts" and "Embed Open Type Fonts" are checked?

If yes, please share a screen recording of the issue, and I will forward this to the dev team to get the fix expedited.

Hi @S. S, I have a similar issue with Roboto fonts. Is the fix for Calibre fonts already available?

My issue is with Roboto fonts and it also occurs when converting a brand new Word to PDF (so it's unlikely a document-specific issue). Screenshot attached.

Hi @Sharris22

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

What is the version of the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 23.08.2042X  installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Also a small video recording of the steps and the issue would be very helpful.

Would you mind collecting the Adobe CC logs https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-log-collector.html  , Procmon logs (Win Only) https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/acromonitor.html and share them via any cloud storage. Just upload the log file to the cloud and generate the link and share that link with us for further investigation.

Regards
Amal
