Adobe PDF / Scroll bars still missing

I've looked at all the posts and their answers. It's very frustrating. I've done all the suggestions. Still no scrollbar. If I adjust the page size manually -- pull it in or out -- the bars appear for a few seconds then disappear. I can't grab them.

I cannot scroll up/down or side to side. Mac Ventura. Acrobat Pro version 2023.006.20320

Any other ideas or will there be an update to fix?

Hi J.M.S.

Thanks for explaining about Zoom to page level. It's not something I ever use –I do View > Zoom > Fit height if I want to see a page fitting the window. However, I've just had a go at using Zoom to page level.

In order not to show any pre-published confidential material, I created a  new blank PDF page and, as you say, selecting Zoom to page level, there's NO scrollbar.

However, it dawned on me that if there's only one page in the doc and we're viewing at page level, there's nowhere to scroll to ... and maybe that's what the developers thought ...

... so I tried adding a second blank page and immediately the scroll bar appeared (see attached – this time with more helpful file names).

I then had another thought and deleted my extra page again so I just had a 1-page doc. Viewed at Fit Height or Zoom to page level, it tells me it's showing at 59.8% and there's NO scrollbar (see attached).

However, if  I increase the percentage size to 75% so now not all the page is visible, the scrollbar appears.

I don't know if this helps and sorry that I'll need to press on with work, so I can't reply for now, but fingers firmly crossed.

Thanks for the work you did with this.

The thing is, when I view a document like your 2-page doc, I don't have the scroll bar. But I guess this is because you have continuous scrolling enabled, and not single page view.

"I cannot scroll up/down or side to side. Mac Ventura. Acrobat Pro version 2023.006.20320"

That is the issue.

Update to version 2024.001.20604.

I just installed version 2024.001.20604.

Still no working scroll bars.

That is the version I have and scroll bars are working with the settings shown in the screens shots in Frans's post. Do you also have "Always" checked for Show scroll bars in System Settings/Appearance?

Yes, I have checked all the right buttons for months now. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I had to edit the plist to get so see the scroll bars at all (probably due to macOS) and I need them in single page view, where they are still missing.

I cannot find the Preferences/Page display/Show scroll bars option. I assume I must have the latest version (2023.008.20470) as no update is available. Under the View/Page Display I turned Enable Scrolling off – and the scroll bar appeared. Something needs fixing.

Attaching screenshot:

Acrobat > Preferences > Page Display > Page content and information > Always show scroll bars

Once the pdf file is opened (and annoyingly everytime you open a file):

View > Page Display > Enable Scrolling

This combo of commands is working consistently (for me anyway)

p.s. the latest Adobe version is 2023.008.20555

Your version: 2023.008.20470 is not the latest version

Hello, My Mac updated to adobe acrobat pro Version 2023.008.20555. So when I try to use crop tool, the cropping margins can't show on my artwork, they only show only on the preview part, so it make difficult for me to work proper.

kindly assist

Gee, Adobe is really improving its products with its updates, isn't it?

I am not sure why, but it is still not working for me!  It says I have the latest version installed, but my preferences still don't have the option to click "always show scrollbar" the way the screenshot above does.  Any advice??

This is not fixed. I'm using the latest version, I have show scroll bars on in preferences and still nothing! See screen shot. Zoomed in, NO Scroll bars.

This seems to depend on the OS version you are using. For me the update didn't work as well and I was on the phone with adobe and when I told them my macOS-version they told me to use the fix where you edit the plist (which contains a mistake on the adobe-website, by the way) and when I found out how to do that I had scrollbars in continuous view and when I zoom in, but still not in single page view.

Ah, ok. Meine Mac Version ist Ventura 13.6.4 und bei mir funktioniert die Bildlauflaufleiste. Aber erst als ich auch die Einstellungen unter der Rubrik Barrierefreiheit eingestellt habe.

Well, this is ironic. I just went to Adobe.com to look for the update, and the scroll bar is unresponsive!

I'm afraid the problem hasn't been solved for me at all. When I activate Single Page View, only a lazy bar appears instead of a scrollbar. The screenshot compares Acrobat 2020 and Acrobat 2023.008.20555, where the difference is noticeable. The scrollbar appears when "Enable Scrolling" is activated, but the "Single Page View" mode and the ability to visually check what part of the document I am in is essential for convenient PDF processing for me.

Simply compare Acrobat 2020 (left – everything works as expected) and Acrobat 2023 (right – just an empty slot for scrollbar):

Where is the update? I just looked at Creative Cloud and don't see one listed.
