Question

Adobe Save to PDF AUTOMATICALLY accepts red-lined changes INSTEAD of showing them on PDF copy.

We need to be able to see red-lined changes on PDFs of legal documents.

When I use the multi-step process of saving a word document, and then choosing to save it as a PDF (not using Adobe Save to PDF), the red-lined changes will show up on the PDF.)  This is the desired result.

I found that when I use Adobe Save to PDF the process ACCEPTS the changes MAKING THEM DISAPPEAR on the PDF.  I believe that Adobe should have a pop-up warning that this feature will AUTOMATICALLY accept any red-lined changes.

It's not that Adobe Save to PDF is not saving changes, it is not SHOWING the redlined changes on the PDF.  I went through the process with our IT Department, but he didn't have the same version as I do, so although he experierience the same problem I was experiencing, he said I'll need Adobe to address it.  I have the following version:

 Adobe Acrobat Pro DC

Continuous Release | Version 2020.006.20042

Since I don't have the computer expertise to follow your instructions to do this myself, it would be so much easier if you would call me, so we could walk through it together.  I'm available Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:30 pm PST.

Thank you very much in advance.

Hi there,

We are sorry to hear that the issue still persists.

We dont see the redlined text in the original Word document that you have shared. As seen the PDF file saved by traditional Save as PDF Please see the screenshots below:

Make sure you are using the correct document to create the PDF.

You may also try creating the PDF file as described in the help article (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/acrobat/how-to/create-pdf-files-word-excel-website.html) and see if that works.

Please open the original Word attachment I sent you on May 5th (shown above).  I just opened it from this thread and it shows the redlined changes.  Please call me if it doesn't work for you.  I'll be happy to go through the process I was using when this happened.  My number is [Personal Info removed by Moderator]  Thank you.

Hi Cheri

We are sorry for the trouble. As described the Acrobat is not saving the recently made changes when converting to Adobe PDF.

We tried to reproduce the issue and its working fine.

Would you mind sharing the version of the Adobe Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Adobe Acrobat DC
make sure you have the latest version go to Help > Check for Updates.

Also, try to repair the installation (For Windows only) Go to Help > Repair Installation.

You may also try creating the PDF file as described in the help article (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/acrobat/how-to/create-pdf-files-word-excel-website.html) and see if that works.

Let us know how it goes

Regards

Amal
