Annoying 'Do you want to add text?' message

I recently took a free trial of Acrobat Pro. I'm a student. I did not continue with the paid subscription. But now, every time I move to a new page as I read a .pdf, an annoying message box appears, 'Do you want to add text?' inviting me to upgrade. It covers part of the text I'm trying to read and I have to keep closing it. Can I do something to stop this? Please!!

Hello @V A27556803c2zk

I hope you're doing great, and sorry for the trouble.

Could you please help us with a screenshot of the popup you're getting?

Also, If you're using windows, please refer to this article:

https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/PrefRef/Windows/FeatureLockDown.html#Upsell

For Mac:

https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/PrefRef/Macintosh/FeatureLockDown.html#Upsell

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Krutikka

Thanks, Krutikka!

Here's a screenshot. I realise now that it looks as though I'm still running Acrobat Pro, but it also knows I don't have the facility to edit. Would it be one of those upsell options that needs switching? Or should I reinstall the basic Acrobat reader? Thank you!

Hey, I'm not an expert on this in any sense however, I did manage to find a solution that worked for me.

In summary, you must regedit a "Feature LockDown" to disable the "Upsell" feature.

The steps:

  1. On your keyboard press "Win + R"
  2.  In the resulting "Run" window, type regedit and press enter (press yes to allow changes)
  3.  Navigate through the folders to "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\11.0\FeatureLockDown" (The 11.0, might be replaced by whatever version you're using)
  4.  Inside the FeatureLockDown folder Right-Click -> New -> DWORD
  5.  Name this new DWORD "bAcroSuppressUpsell"
  6.  Right-Click on bAcroSuppressUpsell -> Modify -> Change Value Data to "1" (This enables the feature to suppress the upsell)
  7. Restart Adobe Acrobat

And Viola! There should be no more upsell popups. I really hope this helps!
