Avoid pop up to upgrade with an older mac???

I have a 2009 Apple Mac computer every time I try to forward a pdf, a pop-up comes on upgrade, The computer is unable to upgrade how to I avoid the pop-up? Adobe wants to get into my computer which they did before and I lost some files.
