Can a check box appear if a document is attached?

I've used the details from the this post (https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/add-an-quot-attach-file-quot-button-to-a-pdf-form...) and they work great - my clients can now attach a document to the pdf before they send it back to me.

But what I would like to do is have a pre-checked check box appear when a document has actually been attached. I can make a check box appear by mouse up -show/hide when the Client ID button is pressed, but I don't know how to make it appear ONLY if something is attached, and not just if the button is pressed. Is this even possible?

Are you using the annotation method, or the data object method?

Sorry, not really sure ... whatever method was shown in the link is what I've used!
