Question

Can I run an Acrobat Pro DC Action Wizard in batch mode?

I have a collection of about 70 PDFs generated in a folder from Adobe FrameMaker (via a FrameScript) or MS Word.

I have an Action Wizard in Acrobat Pro DC that sets stuff like their Document Properties > Initial View settings.

Is it possible to run a batch script that does this for me e.g. from a command prompt (I'm on MS Windows 7) opens Acrobat, points it at the folder with the PDFs, runs the Action Wizard, closes Acrobat. At the moment I have to manually open Acrobat + load the Action Wizard, etc.

It's not intuitive but Acrobat Pro can do it:

1- Locate the Preflight tool in the Print Production pane

2- Select "Profiles" and use the "Options" menu to create a new profile

3- Create a new "Custom Fixup" into the new profile (Initial View and/or something else, there are many options)

4- Go back to the "Options" menu to create a new Droplet, that use this new profile.

A droplet is like an application, and as its name suggests, you just have to drag&drop your PDF files over it.

, Yes, I just saw your "70" in your first post, sorry to have missed that.

Might be possible using a third-party plugin of some kind, but Acrobat by itself does not allow that.

Thanks try67.

I guess the question is morphing into 'does anyone use a 3rd party product that can batch run Acrobat Pro DC' then!

try67: I'll take a look at my options in a few days and maybe get back to you.

TSN: Thanks for the heads up re Adobe's license - I only need to process 70 PDFs on my PC every week or two, not using Acrobat on a server to grind through 10,000 PDFs a day, but I'll read though what the license says on the subject.

You could easily write a VB script to open files in Acrobat and process them.
