Can't change background color in Acrobat Pro DC

Please help:

I am working on a template and trying to change the color of the background but can't do it .

If there is an existing background: select, right-clic, Edit using Illustrator

Good call - but only if there is no existing background from the original design...

Are you trying to change the background colour for yourself, on your computer only, to make it easier to read? Or are you trying to design a PDF in Acrobat? If so, don't use Acrobat, it's not for that, the editor is very basic.

What makes it a template specifically (rather than just a cover for one book)?
