Can't open PDFs with double click? 'The application adobe acrobat is not open anymore'

Hi

I've read some of the other posts related to this but have been unable to find a solution. Plus, I have a pop-up message that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere else. Here goes..

I can't open PDF files with a double click. The only way I can is by using file>open from Acrobat.

When i try to open a file with a double click, I get this message:

(finder icon)"The application "Adobe Acrobat" is not open anymore."

But it IS open!

I'm using Acrobat Pro DC with creative cloud and I'm working on a mac running OS X El Capitan.

Any ideas welcome. Thank you!

Hi Alexishere,

Sorry for the delay in response to your query. As per the description above, you are not able to open a PDF file by double-clicking  on it, Is that correct?

Please check for any pending updates of Acrobat Pro DC from Help>Check for updates.

You can also refer to the following link PDF file won't open with double click  Link: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1006754
