Can't view pdfs except in full screen mode on MacBook Air

All of a sudden I can't view any pdf on my MacBook Air. I've tried opening the file in all the usual different ways. There's no real indication the file has opened other than when I click view in full-screen by chance then you can view the file. Which isn't much help when I need to prepare the file.

I done uninstall/reinstall using the Acrobat uninstaller. Turned it of and on again, all the usual tricks and still nothing. Doesn't appear to be any recent upgrades to the OS system. I'm a bit lost. Any ideas?

Could be switching monitors, so that Acrobat remembers a position that is now off screen. Otherwise, random glitches to your preferences seem to happen a lot.

And it is as easy as that, thanks. Out of curiosity, any ideas what needs to be selected in order for it happen in the first place?
