Is there a way to darken the notes on pdf sheet music?

Not sure. It's sheet music that I downloaded and view via adobe on my laptop when I play my banjo; the notes are very light and I didn't know if there was a way to make them darker. See attached.

It's actually not a scanned file. However, that doesn't make what you asked for any easier, as PDF files were not meant to be edited in this way. Also, the color of the notes is black, so you can't make them darker. You can make them wider, but that would require a huge amount of manual work.

Do you have access to the original file used to create the PDF? If so, you should make the changes there.

If not, you can use the Edit Text & Images tool in Acrobat (under Tools - Content Editing).

Using this tool click one of the lines so it's selected:

Then hold & drag one of the squares in the center to make the line wider:

After you do that the line will be misaligned with the number above it, though:

So use the arrow keys to move it back to the left:

Repeat the process for all other lines...

Is this a scanned file? If so, you should use something like Photoshop to do that. You can set it up as the default image editor of Acrobat and then the PDF file will be updated automatically once you're done editing the image(s).

If you want to do it in batch I would recommend exporting all the pages as images, batch-edit them in PS, and then create a new PDF file from the new images.

Thanks for replying.  It's a downloaded pdf.

The question was: is it a scanned file? A downloaded PDF can be scanned or not scanned. A scanned PDF contains images as text (or symbols).
