Hello,

when I want to digitally sign a PDF, Acrobat crashes.

The certificate is displayed, I can save the new file and then boom...

I use the middleware "Nexus Personal" an a sign-card from D-Trust.

Under Windows, it works, but under mac... pure frustration!

Can anybody help me?

Hi @patricks5421131,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for the trouble.

Have you checked if the security certificates for the sign-card are up-to-date?

You can check for the latest certificate downloads from here: Downloads Produkte & Lösungen » Telekom Trust Center

If yes, please try the steps mentioned here: Troubloeshoot Adobe Acrobat crashes, and let me know if this helps.

Hi there,

I have the same problem only a few years later.

When using Acrobat Reader for the electronic signature (QES) of PDF documents with Nexus Personal on the Mac, Acrobat Reader crashes. The reader used is the REINER SCT cyberJack RFID Komfort with the D-Trust Card 5.1 Std.

A current Acrobat Reader is installed. The latest ReinerSCT driver was then installed, followed by Nexus Personal for macOS. The D-Trust Card and its certificates are recognized in Nexus Personal without any problems.
The certificates are also recognized correctly in Acrobat Reader under Settings -> Signatures -> Identities and Trusted Certificates -> Digital IDs.

If I now want to sign a PDF with Adobe Acrobat Reader (Use a certificate -> Sign digitally), the certificates are displayed correctly. After dragging the “Signature frame” in the PDF, the request for the storage location appears. After clicking on Save, Adobe Acrobat Reader crashes and a PIN request for the card reader no longer appears.

However, the PDF file is created, but the signature is output as invalid.

I use the following components:
- Driver: pcsc-cyberjack_3.99.5final.SP16-arm64-signed.pkg
- Acrobat Reader: Architecture: arm64, Processor: Apple M1, Build: 24.5.20393.0, AGM: 7.1.10, CoolType: 10.0.0, JP2K: 4.0.2.54782
- Nexus Personal 5.16.0
- Apple Mac mini M1 2020, macOS Sequoia Version 15.3

Thanks a lot for some help.

Hi @interested_user,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for the trouble, and the delayed response.

If you are still experiencing this issue, could you update the app to the latest version (2024.005.20421) and let us know how it goes?

Also, this is what I could think of:

  • The pcsc-cyberjack_3.99.5final.SP16-arm64-signed.pkg may not be fully optimized for macOS Sequoia or M1 architecture.
  • The PIN prompt not appearing suggests the card reader driver might not be correctly communicating with Acrobat.

  • macOS may block some processes from interacting with the smart card for security reasons.
  • Check: System Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access and ensure:
    • Acrobat Reader
    • Nexus Personal
    • cyberJack driver
    • PCSC Daemon (pcscd)
    • Adobe Acrobat Security processes Are allowed.
