Disable warnings on local documents with Reader DC

I am using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.  I have a PDF document, created in MS Word, with links to other PDF documents in the same folder on my PC.  When I click on the links I get a warning saying that “This PDF file is attempting to launch  [file name]. Are you sure you want to continue?”

How can I disable this warning?

The main PDF file is essentially a menu to the other PDF files.  If I can’t disable the warning, is there another way for me to create my menu? (It doesn’t have to be a PDF file.)

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

 

If your PDF files are stored in a trusted location, you can add that folder as a privileged location:

  1. In Preferences, go to Security (Enhanced).
  2. Under Privileged Locations, click Add Folder Path.
  3. Select the folder where your PDFs are stored and click OK.

This should prevent the warning from appearing when opening linked PDFs from that folder. For more information please check the help page https://adobe.ly/4kk0Epy

Hi Robert,

Sorry for the delay in response. As you are getting the warning messages while opening a PDF file on your computer, you may try the following troubleshooting steps as described below:

  • Go to Edit>Preferences>Trust Manager >Internet access from PDF files outside the web browser (windows), Go to Acrobat Reader>Preferences>Trust Manager>Internet access from PDF files outside the web browser (MAC)
  • Click on Change Settings
  • Select Allow PDF files to access all web sites and click ok.
  • reboot the system

Also, you may try:

  • Go to Edit>Preferences>General>Warnings>Uncheck do not show edit warnings (windows)
  • Go to Acrobat Reader>PreferencesGeneral>Warnings>Uncheck do not show edit warnings (MAC)
  • You may refer to the help article in the link - Security warnings when a PDF opens

This does nothing.  Adobe Reader and Pro now ignore all security settings.
