Document language not showing up in document properties

Using Acrobat Pro, we've set the language of a PDF file using Menu > Document properties > Advanced > Language.

 Of course we've saved the changes, and double-checked it's the newly saved file we open in Acrobat Reader. But when checking the language in Acrobat Reader, the field is always empty. What are we doing wrong?

    Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

     

    I have tried to reproduce the issue on my end and its working fine. 

     

    Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check. If the file is stored on a shared network/drive please download it to your computer locally and then try again.
     
    What is the version of the Acrobat Pro and Reader you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 23.08.20470 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.
     
    Also try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.
     
    Please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://adobe.ly/48VPdxW and check.

      Hi Amal, thanks for following up.

       

      I've tried several methods of creating PDFs (save from Word, print as PDF from web page, use an online converter). All show the same symptoms, no language shown in Acrobat Reader initially, and after setting it specifically with Acrobat  Pro still nothing shows in Acrobat Reader.

       

      Version of Acrobat Pro: 2023.008.20470 (wow, who at Acrobat though it was a smart move to auto-close the version window as soon as I switch to another program to write down that number???)

      Version of Acrobat Reader: 20.005.30539 (2020 classic track)

      Both of these are the latest versions, according to Wikipedia.

       

      I did a repair also, no problems reported.

       

      I attached a minimal test document. In my Acrobat Reader, it show blank for the language (as in the previous screenshot). Can you tell me if you see the language when you open it in your Acrobat Reader?
