Error message and file access

Whenever I print something to Adobe, I get an error message (on the first print only) that says "AcroCEF.exe - Application error" The exception unknown software exception (0xc06d007e) occurred in the application at location 0x000000007630F932.  I click OK and the error message goes away then comes back.  I click OK again about five more times and it finally goes away.  What's up with that?  It's very irritating

 

Also, when I try to open files in Adobe Acrobat deep in my directory tree, it tells me the file name or the path is too long.  I have to copy the files to my desktop and then it will open and print them just fine.  Why would Adobe care where my files are located when I try to print them?

 

I have already checked for and downloaded the latest updates, but the errors keep happening.

    Why would Adobe care where my files are located when I try to print them?

     

    That problem seems more related to accessing files that are shared in a networked environment (i.e. mapped network drives, or shared folders).

     

    If that would be the case, what happens if you disable Protected Mode at startup ?

     

    Is this happening with every PDF that you try to access at the same location in your directory tree or just one or just a couple of PDFs?

     

    Does it also happens with non-Adobe Acrobat files?

     

    As far as the error message "the file name too long or file path", that too seems to be directly related to a networked environment. 

     

    But if you are not saving PDFs or sharing them in a networked environment, sometimes it could be a file name or a parent folder not following the 8.3 convention (i.e. a filename  containing periods or many other special characters like hash mark symbols, and slashes parenthesis).
