Fillable Form Hide Default to Reveal Color Selection

I need dropdown menus to display a color once selected. However, Acrobat's default light blue form field color hides the new selection color. If I deselect “Highlight Existing Fields” within Acrobat preferences it only displays as intended on my end. That setting does not travel with a sent PDF for another user to view as intended. See reference screens below. Each user must be able to select and see their own “Properties” selection colors. Attaching a PDF sample for your review. My custom validation script can be found on page 3 of the attached PDF. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Are you able to share the JavaScript and let me know where it would need to be inserted/applied? Please see the PDF that I had attached in my post.

Under Tools - JavaScript - Document JavaScripts add a new script (call it "load", for example) with this code:

var originalHighlightState = app.runtimeHighlight;

app.runtimeHighlight = false;

And under Tools - JavaScript - Set Document Actions add the following script under Document Will Close:

app.runtimeHighlight = originalHighlightState;

It's a user-setting. You can embed a script in your file to disable it, but it will also affect all other documents the user opens, so it's a good idea to inform the user of this change...

Thanks for responding but that's not a disirable option. Maybe this isn't even possible to acheive within Acrobat.

What you propose alters the users viewing preferences. I want to avoid that and for that reason not a viable options.

You can change it back when the file is closed, but it's the only option.
