Fillable forms in LiveCycle to Fillable PDF in Acrobat

I have a lot of forms that were created in LiveCycle Deisgner. I need to convert them so they can be updated in Acrobat Pro while keeping the form fields as they were created. Is there an easy way to do this?

Have not yet found an easy solution to this. My current process is just going through each form and readding all the fields. It's a long process but seems to be working for end users with Adobe Reader. Thanks to everyone for the input!

It's quite simple to use PDF CanOpener to remove the XFA key from the AcroForm dictionary.

Contact me for details.

Please go through the similar discussion https://experienceleaguecommunities.adobe.com/t5/adobe-livecycle-questions/convert-pdf-created-using-livecycle-designer-to-pdf-viewable-in/m-p/253494 and see if that helps.

The extract pages method does essentially the same thing. It copies the pages to a new document and recreates the Catelog level AcroForm dictionary.  However, it also looses all of the document level properties (not just the xfa), such as the metadata.

It  is also not a reliable method since conversion of XFA to AcroForm is only an artifact of process and not the purpose.  The details could change on any release.

I tried the extract method but the extracted documents are blank when i go to open them.

Are these dynamic or static XFAs?  Dynamic XFAs cannot be converted to a PDF form. But there is a way to do a quick conversion on static XFA. This conversion leaves the hierarchical field names in place and removes all scripting.

The conversion is simple in one respect, just delete the XFA dictionary from the AcroForm dictionary.  However, it requires a custom plug-in or COS level editor such as PDFCanOpener. You can get a free 10 day trial.

The majority of them are static, I have a few that are dynamic. At first when I was told to use LiveCycle for editing purposes, I was able to Reader Extend the files and nobody had any issues using the forms, but I found out recently that LiveCycle is no longer supported so I am having to go back through and update all 80 fillable forms. Just trying to find the most efficient way to tackle this issue. Some of our vendors only have Adobe Reader and are not able to utilize the forms as intended.
