Forcing Signatures on Mobile

Community Beginner ,
May 22, 2025 May 22, 2025

Hello all,

We're currently digitizing our new hire process. I've created a fillable I-9 form for new hires to fill out on iPads and is almost done, but as you all probably know, the digital signature boxes don't work or show on adobe mobile. How can I force a signature on adobe mobile without having to hand hold and tell them where to put their signature with fill and sign. I've though about having required checkboxes next to the signature like, but that's a bit funky, especially on government docs. Thanks!

Hi @kyle_7624,

Hope you are doing well. Thanks for writing in!

Are you hosting a web-form for individuals to fill and sign, or is it a dynamic form opened on Acrobat directly?

Reader Mobile has a different approach in terms of working as compared to a Windows/Mac device.

If you are sending out the forms to individuals, using the Acrobat Sign app would be the best method out here.

That being said, the request signature feature can also be used to force users to use signatures on the specified fields.

More info around it can be found here: https://adobe.ly/43s8oOB.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Souvik.

Thanks for the reply, I currently have the form directly opening in Adobe Acrobat on iPads for new hires to fill and sign and have a submit button to submit the filled pdf via email, then clear the form for the next person. So I'm not sending it to anyone, they just fill it out with the form already on the iPad.

Hi @kyle_7624 ,

++ Adding to the conversation,

As mentioned, you must emply the Adobe Acrobat Sign app. Download and install it from the App Store.

Open the I-9 form in you iOS device using the Acrobat Sign  (not with the Acrobat Reader Mobile app).:

  • The signature fields will be visible using Acrobat Sign app ==> Select "Get Signature in Person" option
  • Choose Documents to be filled and signed
  • Add Signers and their email address (form will distribute via email by default)
  • Have them sign
  • Send

NOTE:

This workflow is great on the go while using a mobile device, however, if your Internet wireless coverage area has poor reception, if your ISP's connectivity to the Internet is poor or slow, or your if your mobile device uses a VPN that slows your mobile carrier service performance , expect this workflow to hog your app considerably (specifically if you are trying to expedite these documents via email in a rush).

Thanks for the response. So I tried Adobe Sign and I dont want two people signing one document which is required for Sign In Person. I just want the one new hire to fill it out and have it sent to HR so they can store it. Either way we have a 2nd longer document that is too big for Sign and wouldn't work anyway so seems like I'm looking for a solution in Adobe Acrobat mobile at the end of the day. Thanks again.
