I made a fillable pdf form with no signature fields in it only a bunch of text fields and a few drop down text fields. Now out of the blue adobe pro everytime you go to click on a text box it thinks its a signature box because it pulls up what seems to be a signature box instead and brings up a options box allowing the request of e signatures and the only way forward is to click request e signatures and when prompted to continue to close it and then the text box functions as normal. Of course until some where down the page it happens again. you can imagine how much of a pain this is everytime on a file that we use multiple if not hundreds of times a day.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/
p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

I just came here looking for an answer for the same problem, same form I filled out two days ago and it was fine. Today, it will only allow for signatures and its a fillable form.

I am experiencing the same issue. I use PDFs with fillable form fields as character sheets. Previous sheets that were working fine now provide this same prompt every time I select any field. I can overwrite it by hitting "enter" on my keyboard, but if I click off and back on, it comes back.
I am using Adobe Acrobat Standard version 2024.002.20687 | 64-bit on a Windows 11 Home version 23H2 (OS Build 22531.3447).
Attached is an example screenshot and the PDF it is from. But note that this occurs for all PDFs that are using fillable fields.

I am having this same issue on pdf forms I've used for years with no problems. Now it just keeps prompting for a signature. I don't use signature fields. This is the only thread I've found addressing the same problem. I was able to use your work around by clicking "request e signatures", but what a pain!

I am having the same problem.
There must have been an automatic update, which I've now disabled thanks to this experience. Forms that I was previously able to fill fields on will NOT permit field editing; I only have the option to digitally sign the form field.
Where can I download the next to most recent version of the Adobe Acrobat application, or is there a way to force a roll-back on the software version? I just need to be able to work while Adobe fixes what they broke.
Thanks.

I guess you can't edit your posts here, but I posted above that I was having the same problem. I uninstalled the Acrobat Pro app, and went looking for an older version to install. I failed. So I gave up and reinstalled the 'broken' version. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app 'fixed' the form fields issue I was having. YMMV.

Hi All,
Thank you for your patience so far.
The issue has been resolved. Please reboot the machine and then relaunch Acrobat.
Then, wait for some time and try to fill out the forms again.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
Meenakshi

Hello,
I'm still experiencing the issue of a regular fillable form requesting for e-signature.
I have restarted my machine several times and it is still there.

With all do respect, this is not a solution. I have 25+ years in IT dual masters and it makes me crazy when programmers are too lazy to correct issues in their code.
Restarting a computer to fix and issue is not a fix.
I am experiencing memory leaks, poor behavior, crashes, forms not behaving as programmed and just lousy performance from Adobe Acracrobat.
Npo it is not my monster workstation: 128GB Ram, M2 drives, solid state drives, dual 1080XT video cards, and 32Thread processor AMD Threadripper. YOUR PRODUCT IS PERFORMING POORLY AND UNACETABLY - FIX it and give us a better solution than the old microsoft restart crap.
Every time we have to restart our computers because of your laziness or incompetance causes loss of productivity and loss of faith in your product by our bosses. That leads to new software. FIX IT and SHARE the SOLUTION
