Why do I lose the ability to highlight text in a document. Why I open it the first few times it works, then for no reason it won't lwt me highlight. I thought this was a basic function in the free reader. Do I need to buy a subscription now?

OK. It'a what I've been using for years. Don't see a free version of acrobat...

No. You should be able to do it in the free Reader.
So what exactly happens when you try to highlight the text and it fails?

Now when I tru to highlight a text by dragging the cursor over it, the whole page turns the color of the highlight until I stop. It seems that now adobe thinks its an image, not a pdf. This happens with every document. I can do so many highlights and then I can't.

Yes. It has no real text, only images... Something else has to be at play here, as this kind of transformation doesn't happen on its own.


When I save the file I get this message, "exporting pdf". Could that be it?
