Question

How can I extract or export multiple pages from a PDF for any pages containing highlighting?

Reviewing very long documents (e.g., 1,000 pages) and highlighting them, in Acrobat Pro DC I need to either delete all the pages without highlighting or extract all the pages with highlighting to a new file? I've seen some posts suggesting this can be done with a Java script but I'm not a programmer. Any way to do this with out of the box functions other than manually selecting pages? Thanks

If you don't mind markers and lines on the extracted pages, consider creating a Comment Summary file. In the attached graphic:

  • Note that the box for "Pages containing no comments" is unchecked. This excludes "clean" pages.
  • To further narrow the number of pages, change the "Include:" selection to "Only the comments currently showing". The summary will reflect any filtering selections applied via the Comments pane.
  • Select either layout option ending with "...on separate pages".  Their thumbnails will approximate the summary's result on left/right pages; markers on the left page and each comments detailed information on the right page.
  • Set the other options as desired and create the summary.

Writer's correction: In my third bullet, I meant to state "...each comment's detailed..." (including the apostrophe).
