How can I get rid of the horrible 'AI Assisitant' ? I hate, hate, hate, hate eeverything about it. I hate the popups that constantly get in my way every time I open a new PDF, I hate the way it dramatically slows down the application every time I want to just search for something, and I hate that way that it doesn't work at all or provide any value of any form. I just want it gone and never, ever, ever, ever, under any circumstances want it to be there getting in the way of every simple thing I want to do. Please, please, please, please: how can I make it just go away? I just want to open and look at a PDF for heavens sake, I don't need any of this AI nonsense.

Hi @Edwin38637954oaar,
You can follow the suggestions from this help page: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/disable-generative-ai.html
This can be done from the App Preferences:
Let us know if you have further questions.

This was what I needed. As a side benefit, it also got rid of the HORRENDOUS hamburger menu where it was almost impossible for me to find anything.

No such icon exists on my screen, or any adobe screen for that matter. the AI thing is flat out terrorism.

As far as I could determine that solution doesn't work for an Android phone. I sure do agree with the op. This new feature sucks and should never been made a requirement

I tried your suggestions. 1. The generative AI box was NOT clicked to begin with. 2. The cards box was clicked and I unclicked that. Restarted. Cards are gone. AND the AI Assistantbutton is still all over my document reading screen. EVERY time I open a document I have to go to the bottom of the screen and force it to hide the search bar, or whatever it is.
NONE of the AI stuff is necessary. It should be an OPT IN not a mandatory - too bad if you don't like it, can't opt out scenario. I want an update that makes 100% of the AI OPTIONAL, such that when someone wants the AI, they have to go turn it on and configure it for the features they want; and the rest of us can go on our merry way and actually get some work done.
Very poorly done by Adobe that they would force this on everyone rather than making an optional feature. AI is a benefitless feature that does nothing to make my work easier.
Please fix this before the end of 2024.

No, this does not work. The "Ask AI Assistant" prompt still pops up even when all AI-related settings are turned off.
Terrible user experience.

That doesn't work to get rid of the AI assistant.

I did this because the ai window pops up blocking the pdf I'm trying to view. Now that I disabled it, it STILL makes a popup to block the pdf, asking if I want to renewable ai. NO! I DISABLED IT FOR A REASON! I DONT WANT IT! I DO NOT LIKE GREEN AI'S AND HAM!

I've done what you suggested to the OP, but AI is still showing up in the software, like he mentioned. How can we completely get rid of the AI tools and assistant? If this is not possible, it needs to be in future versions. I don't want AI enabled or included by default, and it just turns this software into bloatware. I will never use the features, and I don't want it offered or suggested.

DOES NOT WORK! When will someone from Adobe get that through their thick skulls. Just remove the feature... it is not needed!

If you follow Tariq's suggestion, nothing seems to change. The res AI Assistant button still appears at the bottom right corner, hides when you scroll down, and reappears when you go back to the top of the page. It is marketing, trying to garner subscriptions to an AI service.

Of course it doesn't... they are employees of Adobe and as such, they don't want to give true answers. They want you to keep being bugged to pay for their stupid AI product. The only true solution is to go to the hamburger menu (three horizontal stacked lines like a hamburger) and then check the option to Disable New Acrobat Reader! This is for PC users only. Have no idea how to find this option on Macs. Probably because they get royalties from Adobe to not be able to turn it off.

@JTeam_Dad How to disable on both Mac and Windows has been answered multiple times on this thread. (It has been asked/answered hundreds to times in the forum.) You are just repeating the info.
@glen_0346 You are correct--the AI button is still there, even when you deactivate it. However, when you click on it, it will display an option to re-active the service. Otherwise, it won't work.
I DO agree that the button should go away too, but I suspect Adobe wants to remind you that the feature is still available.

IF it has been answered and it works, then why don't they get rid of all the false information and leave the actual answer and lock down the thread? I keep getting messages from people thanking me for finally giving them the information that they had been looking for and others that state that the information from Adobe doesn't work. As long as I keep getting positive responses and asked for help, I will provide help because it seems that others are being confused by all the wrong information out there and are still looking, asking, and thanking me for the correct information. As a support tech, it is in me to help people who ask for help and I provide the information that I know from personal experience will work.

Many thanks. Your reply was the best in the world and to the point. the only solution was "Disable New Acrobat Reader". Can you suggest how to view all navigation panes according to older versions or everything needs to be manually done now. Any free pdf converter you can also suggest?

Do you have the free or paid version?
PC or Mac?
On a Mac: If you have the free version of Reader, then you can revert back to the previous version of it. Try going into the View menu and select from the drop down, "Disable new Acrobat". Adobe will automatically restart.
The AI thing that appears in the upper right corner of the screen should disappear after that.

Hi Tariq,
This only works while the app is open but reverts the next time you open Acrobat. Please find a way to allow users to permanently disable this burdensome feature. I don't want every anything that sends private information to a server. Not only that but the program runs very slowly and it's maddening to have to "x" out of unwanted options.

We are entering the era of product slop. Someone at Adobe descied that AI is super important and we've gotta get on board. Unfortunately this is another case of bad product development. It's a really effin ridicilous idea that a user would want an intrusive screen takeover everytime they open a pdf. If I open something as simple as an invoice, I have Acrobat trying to shove some "ai" in it by default. So not I have to take time to figure out how to disable some stupid "feature" that does not align with my (or most people's) workflow.

When I click on Edit, there is no option for "Preferences". I do not have the "Hamburger" icon. Please explain how to get rid of the horribly intrusive and unhelpful "AI Assistant". It is irritating and is impeding my productivity!!

I finally figured out what you mean by "hamburger" (ie Menu) and found preferences and unchecked Generative AI. But the AI Assistant still pops up. I closed Acrobat and re-opened and it is still there. Could you please me how to make this intrusive feature go away for good? I do not want it. It is not helpful and it is impeding my work.
