How can I get rid of the horrible 'AI Assisitant' ? I hate, hate, hate, hate eeverything about it. I hate the popups that constantly get in my way every time I open a new PDF, I hate the way it dramatically slows down the application every time I want to just search for something, and I hate that way that it doesn't work at all or provide any value of any form. I just want it gone and never, ever, ever, ever, under any circumstances want it to be there getting in the way of every simple thing I want to do. Please, please, please, please: how can I make it just go away? I just want to open and look at a PDF for heavens sake, I don't need any of this AI nonsense.

Hi @Edwin38637954oaar,
You can follow the suggestions from this help page: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/disable-generative-ai.html
This can be done from the App Preferences:

Hi @MARCY_4690,
Hope you are doing well. Sorry for the trouble with using Acrobat.
You might want to try switching to the Old UI and check if it works.
To do so, go to Menu > Disable New Acrobat > Restart.
Let us know how it goes.
Regards,
Souvik.

Why should we have to switch to the OLD Adobe. I like some of the new features and the display as well. I just want the AI crap GONE! GONE, GONE!!!!!

>> Look forward to my subscription expiring so I can junk the whole suite and just get the cheapo version of acrobat.
I don't speak for Adobe, but based on your rude and borderline racist comments on this and other posts, all I can say is "don't let the door hit you on the way out".

Whilie I don't like his rude and borderline racist way of saying it, I do have to agree that Adobe is forcing AI on us if we want to get any more advancements in other tools which is sad.

Not disagreeing. But there are proper ways to express one's frustration and dissatifaction without rule/racist responses. I'm sure those type of responses will certainly make Adobe make the changes being asked for.

That solution works until Adobe opens again. Then, AI is back. I need another way to get rid of it.

Try my solution below. And I really don't know how I got there, but I didn't have close anything out and it worked immediately.

Thank you, Ed May, for putting into words my exact feelings about the "AI Assistant." May we all experience technology without the useless AI "enhancements" in the future! Cheers!

I have finally worked it out.
Adobe is a front for AI (the mindkiller) it is taking over the known world ( and also the unknown) we are not going to get anywhere now we have released the genie. BUT if you revert to the previous version and go into Task manager and click on the right settings to stop updates you too can have a relatively AI free Adobe experience, sort of.

I have no idea how I got here, as I have tried so many things, but this actually worked (on a PC) - toggle off the ai per the below:

This solution is only relevant for using acrobat within chrome. I typically avoide using chrome at all.

I'm not so sure that's true (Chrome). I can open the adobe program and no issues, separate from chrome. I have a place I go where the pdf's are automatically opened in Chrome, and that's where I was having the ai popup driving me insane. This fixed it. So, maybe we're not having the same issue, other than that ai is driving us over the edge.

At the top of your image is a url which states that it is a chrome extension with the url "chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/browser/js/options.html".
I have the same extension. However, I don't do a lot of work in chrome except for accounting. So, I don't encounter it much. I can state that I have the same selector ticked off. This option has no effect on the actual program. Only the extension within chrome.

Got it. That makes sense. Hopefully, maybe, this will help somebody out there battling Adobe's AI feature. What a battle!

I have done all of this and the ai still shows up and resets all my setttings. I am trying to get work done and I am constantly hurddling over this ai nonsense that I do not need.

I am looking for a way to turn this off on my Mac and within Chrome. I am generally opening sheet music by pdf, and this is ridiculous to think that AI could summarize it. I've tried AI in my work--it can't even put a G clef on a staff, much less summarize a piece of music. I just want this to go away. I am tired of tech using me to learn. They don't pay me, they shouldn't have access to any of my information. But I teach, so I don't have a choice but to use the tech. Please come up with common sense fixes for this.

Hi-
If you scroll up, or back in this topic thread you will find instructions on how to revert back to a previous (ie: pre AI bs) version of Acrobat.
Go to:
- View menu
- Disable New Acrobat
I think you have to restart the app. The AI stuff should then be gone.
I did this and am happy with the absence of the AI stuff.
It's annoying that the default for this is always set to "ON". It's as if Adobe knows that its users wouldn't utilize this awful technology....so they force it on people.

When you open a file on the Acrobat web portal, click on your profile picture in the top-right > click on Settings > and uncheck the box to the right of "Generative AI" > Save > Refresh the page.
Hope this is what you were looking for.

Souvik.

I think this is something that you have to switch off in Google. Maybe it's under 3rd party apps in your Google profile(?) which is under the "Data & Privacy" section (scroll to the bottom). Deselect it and see if that works.
I'm just guessing here....

I think the icon is still visible even when it's disabled. Kind of like in gmail when you don't have google gemini enabled, yet the stupid little diamon icon is still visible in ones gmail. Same for Copilot bs in Word.
