How do I embed a PDF in a Word document to send to others outside of my office

Correct answer try67

There is another option, that doesn't require using a link. You can insert the PDF as an "object", via Insert - Object. Then select the file and tick the "Display as icon" box. The result will be a small PDF icon on the page, which links to the full PDF. I believe the PDF itself is embedded in the Word file, ie it's not just a link but a full attachment.

What difficulty do you face in just sharing the PDF file with people outside your office? Trying to place it in Word is likely to make it harder for them and harder for you.

Trying to embedd supplementary documents within the body of a greater report to external stakeholders... have just found out they can't open the embedded docs!

Drag and drop it onto the page in Word.

You can do what try67 suggests but be aware that that is one page at a time and each page will be placed in Word as a page. Tedious but doable.

To my knowledge there's no way to have it sit there like a link that the recipient can simply click on. One way to get around that is to place the PDF on a website and provide a link in the Word document to that web-placed PDF. The one catch here is that many firms do not allow Microsoft products to link to a website due to potential viruses, etc. Your call on that.

Please let us know if any of these help you.
