Question

How do I install Reader on Mac OSX 10.15.7

Hi folks

I've downloaded Adobe Reader DC for Mac, and as instructed I double clicked the .dmg file. This seems to have created a .pkg file, but I can't do anything at all with that .pkg file.

I tried deleting the package, and got an error message telling me that Some files can't be processed, either bec ause you don't have permission to modify them, or because they are on a locked volume

The OS is OSX 10.15.7 Catalina. I'm not an experienced Mac user, so maybe there's a missing instruction somewhere, or perhaps I don't have permissions to install software - but I should have permissions as I fairly recently installed another software application which seems to run fine.

I've tried downloaded the .dmg file from Firefox and from Safari, but the same result in both instances - nothing happens.

Any ideas on what I can try next so I can get this app installed on the MacBook please?

Thanks

Rodger

The .dmg file is just a container for the .pkg file. Once you open the .dmg, you need to double click on the .pkg file to run the installer.

Hi Chad

Thanks for the response. I understand that process, and the action you describe is exactly what I'm doing. But the problem is that when I double click on the .pkg file, nothing happens. I even tried a right click on the .pkg file and tried to run it by selecting Installer app (default) and nothing happened there either.
