How do you select all displayed comments (when list is filtered)?

I deal with PDF files with hundreds and sometimes thousands of comments.  I disposition each of them as accepted, rejected, etc.  I then send on the accepted comments to be incorporated.  In previous version of Acrobat, I could filter the comments to display just the rejected ones, select the first comment and then shift click on the last comment.  This would select all of the displayed comments so I could delete them.  Acrobat DC is not allowing this.  It is maddening to have to select and randomly delete hundreds of comments one by one.

AggiEngineer - I figured out how to get it to work!  It is consistent on my machine and my file.  Now for you to test it on yours.

The process is maybe unconventional, but I tinkered with this for a long time until I stumbled on it.

  • Filter your comments to show only the desired set.
  • Click in the Search Comments box at the top of the Commenting Panel.
  • Type in something... anything!
  • Click the X at the right of the search box to clear away your typing.
  • Click on the 1st comment in the list.
  • Shift-click the last comment in your filtered list.

This process works here.  Let me know if it works for you.

My best,

Dave

Dave_M,

That worked! Thank you.  I agree that is rather unconventional.  Seems like a bug in the Acrobat code.  I would like to mark this answered, but I also don't want such bugs to go unrecognized.  What methods are channels are available to pass this along as a bug?

Great news that it works for you!  I'll work on reporting the bug/issue.  I'll let you know as I learn more.

My best,

Although not nearly as efficient as selecting 1st, holding shift & clicking last to select the range, I seem to be able to control-click to select multiple comments.  When filtering by status, you can fairly quickly select a batch (holding control) and then delete the selected comments all at once.  If I can figure out a better way, I'll report back.

Yeah, holding CTRL works but when you have hundreds of comments, that equates to clicking on each one of them.  Thank you for following up. The most simple solution in my opinion would be to add this feature back.
