Question

How does one find an attachment in a PDF file?

I saved a PDF file in Acrobat Pro (ver 2024.001.20643) to reduce file size and get a message that says it will not reduce the size of attachment.  I have no reason to believe it should have an attachment (it is a PDF created by saving a PowerPoint file to PDF).

However, I cannot determine how to find an attachment in the PDF file, and instructions at adobe.com and in Acrobat are not helping me.

Open the Attachments panel (used to be on the left hand side, probably got moved elsewhere in the recent UI upgrade...), and look there. It has an icon of a paper-clip.

I looked all over, but there is no such icon any more.

Most items now lead to the "Upgrade to Acrobat Pro" dialog.

I remember the old design and that icon, can't find it at all in the current Acrobat.

The "Find text or tools" when used to search for "attach" only shows two unavailable Acrobat Pro features to add attachments, how very helpful /s

Reader now hides panels when they are not in use. So if there are no bookmarks in the file, the Bookmarks panel will not show when you open it, since you can't use it. Same for the Attachments panel, most likely.
