How to add an appendix stamp to a PDF document

When we submit documents to court, we need to add an appendix stamp to each document (appendix 1, appendix, 2, appendix 3 etc.).
In the old days we would do if manually by stamping each document and then fill in the number with a pen.
But we would love to be able to do this digitally in Adobe, but how?

Please go through the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/create-custom-dynamicstamp.html and see if that works for you.

You can create a Stamp from this image and then apply it to your files. Just go to Comment, click the Stamp tool and select Custom Stamp - Create New Stamp. Then select your image and you're basically done!

If you want the stamp number to contain a dynamic number that's also possible, but requires using a form field and a custom-made script to prompt the user to enter the number to be used each time the stamp is added.

Wow.  That sounds good.  How can I add the dynamic (manual) number?

This is a complex subject. Search the forum for "dynamic stamp" to find a lot more information about it.

 Hi @Erik28984979hnoq

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble.

The option you are looking for is called Bates Number  in Acrobat.  Bates numbering is a method of indexing legal documents for easy identification and retrieval. Each page of each document is assigned a unique Bates number that also indicates its relationship to other Bates-numbered documents. Bates numbers appear as headers or footers on the pages of each PDF in the batch.

To know how, please refer to the section Add a Bates numbering header or footer (Acrobat Pro) here https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/add-headers-footers-pdfs.html

Note: Bates numbering is unavailable for protected or encrypted files and some forms

Amal
