how to stop Adobe Reader dc from being the default to open pdf files - what settings?

two questions:

1- how to stop Adobe Reader dc from being the default to open pdf files - what settings?

2- The Adobe Reader dc is creating alot of unnecessary issues (wants to be the 'Default" when opening .pdf(s) even though we have Adobe Acrobat Pro X as the default) so is there an Adobe Reader 2020 available?

thanks

Hi Njtax

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described Acrobat Reader DC is becoming the default PDF viewer when you have Acrobat Pro X set as the default app.

Adobe Acrobat X is an old and end of life application, Acrobat Reader DC being the updated/latest version of the application is taking the ownership of the PDF file and becoming the PDF viewer by default.
Note:  If you want Acrobat Pro X to be the default application, you may consider removing the Acrobat Reader DC from the computer system.

Hope this information will help.

Regards

Amal
