How to stop PDFs automatically being converted to ADOBE

Hi, I recently purchased an adobe plan and when it was setting up, it asked me if I wanted all my PDF's to be ADOBE PDF's files, so I said YES. Now I want to change them back to the original PDF's because my computer can read aloud the PDF's but not the ADOBE PDF's files. My husband has a vision impairment and he has lots of reading to do today and this weekend for work and I need to be able to change that setting so all the files go back to PDF's (not ADOBE PDF's) so the computer can read aloud to him. Desperate here. Thanks

Acrobat can read text in PDFs (View> Read out loud) the settings can be adjusted under Preferences> Reading.

I don't think your PDFs have changed, when you first open Acrobat, you may have been asked if you want Acrobat to be your default PDF viewer. You can change your default PDF viewer to another application, on a Mac, select a PDF (click on the name) but don't open it, go to File> Get Info, at the bottom of the info box you can select another application and click on "Change all".
