I need to create a PDF that can be edited on my phone.

I need to create a PDF that can be edited on my phone. Until March, I was able to do this without any problems using Create Modules, but when the customer received the PDF, they would see blue boxes where they had to write. Now, when I do the same thing on my phone, I no longer see the blue boxes where the customer has to write. Help. How can I fix this?

Hi there,

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble.

It sounds like you’re referring to creating fillable form fields in a PDF that could previously be viewed and filled out easily on mobile, showing those blue boxes for text input. If those boxes are no longer visible, Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check.

  • Confirm you’re creating a Fillable PDF –
Ensure that the PDF you create still has interactive form fields (text fields, checkboxes, etc.). If you’re using Create PDF or Create Module, try recreating the file and check if “Form fields” or “Interactive form” is selected before exporting.

  • Use Acrobat on Mobile –
Make sure both you and the recipient are opening the file in the Adobe Acrobat Reader app, not through a browser or another PDF viewer. Other apps may not display the blue fillable boxes correctly.

  • Test on Desktop –
Open the same file in Acrobat on desktop and check whether the form fields are visible there. If they show up on desktop but not mobile, try re-saving the file using Prepare Form in Acrobat desktop to ensure full compatibility with mobile form filling.

Let us know how  it goes.

~Amal

Hi,
You understand the problem perfectly.
Unfortunately, I have this problem with every PDF I create and when I open it from different smartphones (iPhone or Android), but when I open the PDF from my computer, there's no problem.

I use the Create Form option, and Forms are interactive.
I'm attaching a PDF to help you understand.

You can fill the form on mobile devices with Acrobat Reader.

But with previous PDFs, they could also be opened from other apps, not necessarily Acrobat Reader.
